POLL: AMERICANS SURRENDER SOVEREIGNTY
Americans are apparently seriously confused about the UN, national
sovereignty and who should have the power to do what.
Exclusive to THE SPOTLIGHT
By James P. Tucker, Jr.
An overwhelming majority of Americans are willing to surrender
national sovereignty to the United Nations, according to a shocking
survey conducted by the Americans Talk Issues Foundation.
In a preliminary question, 72 percent of Americans agreed that UN
resolutions on the environment should have "force of law" which would
"rule over the actions and laws of individual countries...even the
laws of the United States."
Told that a President of the United States might some day be arrested
by the UN under this charter provision, the response was 86 percent in
favor and 12 percent opposed to the revision.
Seventy-six percent favor the UN becoming "the policeman to the
world."
"If that becomes an accepted and effective global norm, there is no
doubt that the U.S., at some future time, would be subject to the
policeman's jurisdiction," the foundation said. "The people are ready
to proceed with selected `pooling' of sovereignty."
American leaders are "ready to take major steps that might lead
directly to giving up an aspect of sovereignty without any
understanding by the public or any public discussion that we are doing
so," the foundation said.
SOVEREIGNTY GIVEN UP
"The WTO (World Trade Organization) will become the clearest and most
significant example yet of U.S. leaders giving up sovereignty to an
international and unelected body," according to the foundation.
The survey found Americans also overwhelmingly support another aspect
of the Bilderberg-Trilateral Commission plan for world government:
Giving the UN the power to levy its own taxes, and not depend solely
on assessments from member states.
"Overwhelming majorities of Americans" approve of the UN levying
"almost any" kind of tax but "we tested just two," asking the
questions "seven times in different contexts" the foundation said.
Seventy-two percent supported UN taxes on international arms sales and
77 percent approved levies on international currency trading, the
foundation said.
But the foundation also had a bit of interesting news: "Over two-to-
one think that American troops" should not fight under foreign
commanders. (The precedent of Americans bombing Bosnia under a UN
commander, at the orders of the UN and not the president or Congress,
was important to the Bilderberg-Trilateral agenda.)
Although these surveys showed Americans overwhelmingly prepared to see
their nation reduced to a province within a world government, the
findings showed some confusion:
Seventy-three percent disagreed with the statement "the UN might
become a world government and take away our freedom" while only 17
percent agreed.
