Subject: Tom Brown - an excellent read
Date: 18 Jul 1994 00:09:32 GMT

I have just recently finished reading _Tom Brown's Field Guide to
Wilderness Survival_ and am about half through with his book _Tom
Brown's Field Guide to Nature Observation and Tracking_ I would
suggest both of these books (and presumably anything else he's
written) to everyone. They are extremely well written and include
exercises to do to reinforce all the skills that he's talking about.
They are also almost as much philosophical as they are practical.

Has anyone else read these and make any specific suggestions as to
what other of his books to read?

FYI, Tom Brown began learning tracking, nature observation, etc. when
he was 7 from his friend's grandfather, Stalking Wolf, an Apache elder
and scout.

Everything that he is trying to teach is to help the reader develop a
deeper raport and understanding with nature and the things around him
and to make some connection to "the-spirit-that-moves-in-all-things."
