As-Salatu As-Salama Ala Rasool al-Karim.Three hundred years ago a few "foreigners" landed at Plymouth (US). They were unable  to adopt to the new life. They sought help from the native people. After that, they  enjoyed a good harvest season. They celebrated the event thanking God. In this celebration the pilgrims invited the natives to share this moment. This was the Thanksgiving.As time went by, more people arrived from overseas and they turned on the natives  and started to kill them and occupying their lands. Centuries after this, the US did not change its policy of expansion and exploiting other people's land by taking the natural resources and thus started the new era of colonialism: an economic one.  What happened in South East Asia recently is just  another example. After the recent collapse of the Asian market, the Malaysian President Mahatir said: "we have to start the liberation process all over again"  (from the new form of colonialism).We as Muslims recite: "And proclaim the Grace of your Lord" [Ad-Duha 93: 11]"Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful [Al-Insan 76:3]Thanking Allah is a must: always and every time. We thank Allah by obeying Him; being generous towards others, and by carrying this Deen to the world and share His guidance with all of the people. This is the way we thank Allah. We do not claim believing in Him while at the same time separating Him from our daily affairs and separating His religion from the life and submitting to other gods The real sense of being grateful to God is to obey Him in all affairs of our lives.
