About 50 neo-Nazi skinheads and Ku Klux Klan activists pulled out all the
stops Friday to protest against a six-month jail term handed to one of their
members.

Led by the self-styled Exalted Cyclops of Montreal's Klan - who was decked
out in the trademark white cape and pointy hood - the demonstration was
punctuated by shouts of "White Power!" and "White Victory!" along with the
occasional fascist salute.

Only two - Klan leader Michel Laroucque and his girlfriend, Manon Robert -
would give their full names to a reporter. Police watched from across the
street.

The demonstrators were protesting the penalty that Quebec Judge Jean-Pierre
Bonin imposed last week on Martin Belhumeur, an ex-security guard. Belhumer,
a neighbor of Larocque, was convicted of illegal possession of three Molotov
cocktails on Jan. 18, 1992.

Larocque argued that Belhumeur would not have drawn as long a sentence if it
was not for his beliefs.
