Perhaps I can supply some information on Builders of the Adytum.  
(unfortunately I'm traveling this week, and am away from my reference 
material, so I'm going from memory.)  I have been a student of B.O.T.A. 
for awhile, and I'll be glad to give you my perspective.

The organization was formed by Dr. Paul Foster Case about 70 years ago. 
Dr. Case had been head of a Golden Dawn descendant order in the USA, 
when he was reportedly approached by the Inner School and given the 
opportunity to form the Builders in order to bring a new unfolding of the 
Ageless Wisdom to those who are ready to receive it.  Dr. Case's teachings 
have been extended by Ann Davies, who succeeded him as head of B.O.T.A. 
upon Dr. Case's passing.

The B. O. T. A. teachings are transmitted as a series of correspondence 
courses .  The teachings are generally recognized, even by many 
non-member Tarot experts, as being of high quality and depth.  They 
cover the Tarot, Holy Qabalah, Spiritual Alchemy and Astrology.  
The purpose of the teachings is to help the student advance in the path 
to the Great Work.
