Introduction to Arabian Parts
by Jaiba

Correct use of parts gives a profound insight into the 'inner'
workings of a chart whether natal, mundane, horary or elective. This
is in contrast to the 'outer' aspects indicated by the patterns and
placements of the planets, stars, signs and houses. The Ancients used
97 parts and there are an additional 73 from various medieval
sources. There is also the possibility of an additional 33 with the
addition of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
These parts deal with all areas of life from war, commodities
speculation, profession to marriage and partnerships. Parts are
sometimes used in questions, elections, and nativities where very
subtle astrological indications require resolution in order for a
satisfactory judgment to be made.

Here is a paper and pencil example of figuring Arabic Parts by hand,
using the Part of Fortune as an example.
