Alleged CIA memo outlining
surveillance of Marilyn Monroe
"Secret Air Base" reference

This page is posted to provide information about an alleged 1962 CIA
document concerning Marilyn Monroe. The document is dated August 3,
1962, two days before
her untimely death on August 5, 1962.

An open appeal is being made to the readership for more information
about this supposed document, as its source and legitmacy has yet to be
determined.

A JPEG image of the alleged CIA document is included at the bottom of
this page. Since its appearance is not entirely legible in this forum,
the text of the document is as follows:

Wiretap of telephone conversation between reporter Dorothy Kilgallen and
[illegible] alone (?) friend Howard Rothberg (A) from wiretap of
telephone conversation [gap] of Marilyn Monroe and Attorney General
Robert Kennedy (B).

Appraisal of Contents: [Blocked Out]

1. Rothberg discussed the apparent [illegible] of subject with Kilgallen
and the [illegible] breakup with the Kennedys. Rothberg told Kilgallen
that she was attending [illegible] Hollywood parties hosted by the
“inner circle” among Hollywood elite and [illegible] and was becoming
the talk of the town again. Rothberg indicated in so many words, that
she had secrets to tell, no doubt, arising from her trists [sic] the
President and the Attorney General. One such [Illegible] mentions visit
by the President at a secret air base for the purpose of Inspecting
things from outer space. Kilgallen replied that she knew what might be
the source of the visit. In the mid-fifties, Kilgallen learned of secret
effort [sic] by US and UK governments to identify [illegible] origins of
crashed spacecraft and dead bodies, from a British government official.
Kilgallen believed the story may have come from the [Illegible] in the
late forties. Kilgallen said if that the story is true, it would
[Illegible] terrible embarrassment [Illegible] Jack and his plans to
have NASA put man on the moon.

2. Subject repeatedly called the Attorney General and complained about
the way she was being ignored by the President and his brother.

3. Subject threatened to hold a press conference and would tell all.

4. Subject made references to “bases” in Cuba and [knew?] [Illegible] of
the President’s plan to kill Castro

5. Subject made reference to her “diary of secrets” and what the
newspapers would do with such disclosures.

Researchers Geri & Alfred Webre (Vancouver, BC) conferred with Alex
Constantine, author of Project Paperclip and the Kennedy Assassination,
 about the document. Constantine stated:

I've seen other "documents" of this sort, and some have been, over time,
demonstrated to be forgeries. On the subject of Kennedy, and so
Monroe and Kilgallen, the CIA has long been churning out forged
documents.
Seymour Hersh was taken in by 300 of them, and based a book on the
forgeries, The Dark Side of Camelot, a fraud that continues to sell -
one
of the local bookstores her ordered a huge pile of them - even after it
has
been entirely discredited, and Hersh has acknowledged he'd been had. The
text below is probably a forgery, but given the wealth of black
propaganda
about claiming "aliens" are everywhere on this planet (but not in outer
space,
thus CSETU's inability to detect any demonstrably intelligent signals),
I
wouldn't be too surprised if Kilgallen believed some of it. But all this
shows
is that Kilgallen was human and susceptible to the ambitious, ubiquitous
psyops of the cold war period.

Jeri and Alfred Webre state:

1. Regardless of whether the document authenticated as a genuine CIA
document, or is the result of a back-channel leak through the CIA, the
document could be a "disinformation forgery" made to appear authentic,
as the documents leaked to Seymour Hirsch were.

2. The design of the 1962 document is to "seed" possibly true
information about Marilyn, Kilgallen, and the alien connection, and back
date a document to two days before Marilyn's death.

3. The purpose of this design is to create confusion, about Marilyn,
about Kilgallen, about the Alien connection.

4. The goal of the 1962 document, so closely back-dated to Marilyns
death (2 days) is to mask the CIA's own causal involvement in her death
- eg she was assassinated by CIA or US intelligence operatives.

5. This document seems to contain many of the classic hall marks of
disinformation, including close dating to a target action
(assassination) which an agency wants to disavow.

6. If the document is treated as deliberate "disinformation-forgery" it
paradoxicaly becomes stronger evidence that the CIA may have
assassinated Marilyn becasue she was threatening to reveal Area- 51 type
secrets.

7. If the document is authenticated, the above arguments still apply. -
The CIA is not permitted to gather domestic intelligence by law. Thus,
why was the document created and released in the first place.

Part of the background of our reasoning comes from personal exerience.
One of us was a producer in Hollywood, and experienced CIA teams first
hand. At an intuitive level, the 1962 Monroe document seems consistent
as a component of a covert CIA team strik against Marilyn.

These are just informed speculations, but we are trying to grapple with
the document, since you have sent it to us. They are subject to change
and adaptation based on what we all find out.

The document was received via E-mail from Mr. Tony Spurrier, a UK based
researcher. Tony scanned his blurred copy spoke with a British author,
Nick Redfern about the document. Redfern is covering the 1962 document
in an upcoming book, along with other UFO-related documents.

Tony Spurrier interviewed Nick Redfern, who had previous knowledge of
the alleged CIA document. Redfern stated the following:
•Nick is covering the document with about 3 pages in his book 'Cosmic
Crashes' which is being released in the UK in June '99. Nick had the
document checked-out 'off the record' and found the following. •The type
face on the document was that used by the CIA in the 60's
•The style of writing is also consistent with the same period
•The official comment [however] was that the CIA do not have any
documents relating to Marilyn Monroe.
•The FBI admit having documents on both Marilyn Monroe and Dorothy
Kilgallen but say they are not UFO related.

Nick Redfern feels that the document can not be confirmed but feels that
the CIA may have other documents which they are denying the existance
of.
