The Electoral College convenes in state capitals in 4 days (Dec. 18)

Choose a state or view electors from all states:

Florida, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas,
Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North
Dakota, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia

UPDATE: GOP Electors Feel the Heat after Gore Concession

The vast majority of Americans believe that the popular vote
should determine the President. In the 2000 election, however,
the Electoral College is expected to overrule the popular vote,
electing George W. Bush by a vote of 271-267 even though Al Gore
received over 300,000 more votes nationally than Bush.

VoteWithAmerica.com encourages you to make your voice heard by
calling, e-mailing, or writing to the electors to ask that they
vote with America and elect Gore. We have obtained contact
information for 172 electors in 18 states that voted Republican
in this election. Most of the targeted states do not legally
require their electors to vote for their party's official
candidate, meaning that each elector is free to put patriotism
above partisanship. When contacting electors, remember to be
courteous and to respect their opinions and decisions.

This site also provides background information on the Electoral
College, a word about privacy concerns regarding the electors,
and a media center. We believe that this campaign could help sow
the seeds for abolition of the Electoral College. Citizens for
True Democracy, founded in 1998 to improve political
participation via electoral reform, is a non-partisan public
interest organization based in Claremont, California.

  SAMPLE PHONE SCRIPT

ELECTOR: Hello?

YOU: Hi. Can I please speak with ____________?

ELECTOR: Yes, this is ____________.

YOU: I'm calling to let you know that I think that you should
vote with America on December 18. Al Gore won the most votes
nationally and therefore deserves to be the next president. As
one of 538 electors, you have the power to prevent the Electoral
College from contradicting the nation's popular vote. If that
happens, American democracy will face a serious legitimacy
crisis.

ELECTOR: Don't you respect the US Constitution?

YOU: Yes, I do. The Framers of the Constitution intended for the
Electoral College to be a deliberative body. Electors should be
more than pawns of their party. You can vote for whoever you
choose. In fact, your state does not legally require you to vote
for your party's candidate. To the best of my knowledge, you will
face no penalties whatsoever if you decide to vote with America.

ELECTOR: I don't care. I'm going to vote for George W. Bush
because I think he'll be the best president.

YOU: Okay. I respect your decision but encourage you to consider
America's national interest before you vote. Have a nice day.

ELECTOR: Goodbye.

CTD is targeting four Republican electors that, based on their
public statements, appear particularly likely to consider
changing their votes. Click on the phone icons to place a free
long-distance call to each elector over the Internet or call them
with an actual phone, using the numbers provided below. To make
the free call via the Internet, your computer will need a
sound-card and a microphone.
