A WORLD OUT OF CONTROL
========================

The world is rapidly going out of control. Pollution is rife, diseases once
conquered are coming back, hospitals are incubators for viruses with no
known antidote; AIDS now effects a quarter of the population of the African
continent.

All these problems are noticed by the Western World and accepted by us. In
part this is because such problems are controlled and, in general, the
worst results affects only the third world. But, as will be shown,
Australia’s integration into the world, mandated by globalisation, brings a
corporate mentality that presently the Australian commercial psyche of a
“fair go” is incapable of handling.

This NATIONAL WATCHMAN UPDATE concentrates on how this will effect every
Australian as multinationals, and the corporate LOGOS of “Greed is Good”,
brings every Australian under corporate food control : no small matter.

TO KILL PLANTS
==============

One unbelievable and frightening development is that the international
corporates have now extended their gene modification philosophy, common in
today’s commercial agriculture, to the removal of a plant’s basic immune
system.

The London Observer (8 October 2000) has reported that “Scientists working
for Swiss food giant Novartis have developed and patented a method for
'switching off' the immune systems of plants... Patents filed by Novartis,
manufacturers of Ovaltine, reveal that its scientists expect to be able to
use the radical biotechnology for almost every crop on Earth.” (The
complete article follows at the end of this NATIONAL WATCHMAN UPDATE.)

“[T] the patent also describes plants where the entire immune system has
been switched off, making them highly prone to disease.” Novartis  has said
that this development was for 'research purposes' only.

The article reported on the concerns of one development agency, “'We find
it extremely frightening that such a powerful multi-national is working on
this type of technology, which seems aimed at protecting their profits by
threatening the rights of poor farmers.” Australian farmers must be
included in this warning; they are indeed threatened as there is a very
U.N.-level playing field.

THE UNLEVEL PLAYING FIELD
=========================

The U.N.-level playing field is simply a reality of world economics in a
competitive environment. It is something that Australian farmers are
finally realising as they are forced of their land unable to compete
against countries that, against the letter and the spirit of signed trade
agreements, openly subsidise their farmers.

But why do they expect anything else? Only because cooperation has been the
traditional Australian way : BUT the nature of international competition is
to destroy the competitor. But surely, some would say,  that the American
farmer, as one instance, would not want to destroy other farmers. The
reality however is that the American farmer, that the deceitful subsidising
legislation protects, is not a private person; “he” is actually a
multinational.

“Greed is good”; for the corporate power player, at the top of the
agricultural corporate giants, destruction of the enemy, by any means, is
what he is paid to do to earn the million dollar pay cheques.

This is why plants must die; corporates are actively seeking to kill plants
with an AIDS like engineered genetic virus. Such a modification will not
increase yields, will not increase plant strength, or harvest times but it
will provide a huge wind-fall for those that own the genetic structure of
AIDS resistant plants.


WHY KILL PLANTS
================

To understand the reality of this proposition let us look at the existing
state of plant gene development already used in commercial operations.

First we have plants that will produce no seeds or seeds that cannot
reproduce. The farmer must each year go back to the seed owner - the
multinational - in order to plant their next crop. This is called
‘controlling the market’ : locking the customer into seed purchase.

Secondly there are genetically modified plants that are resistant to
specific, powerful herbicides developed and produced by the agri-nationals.
Here by using the herbicide all in the field dies except the
agri-national’s plants. This is also called ‘controlling the market’ :
locking the customer into the pesticide purchase.

So fundamental to ‘controlling the market’ is the removal of plants over
which you have no commercial control. The ultimate control of a market is
the control of a purchaser; when the purchaser can only get food from you
that is pretty good control.

Under One World Government there will be a One World Religion, a One World
Political system and a One World Seed company!

THE OPERATIONAL ASPECTS
=========================

Of course the One World Seed Company must destroy its opposition legally.
“Enter Stage Right” the ‘plant immunity switch’ gene the subject of the
London Observer’s  article. The gene is here; now all that is required is
some way to force it into all markets and, in some manner, use it to
destroy the opposition’s gene pool.

There is nothing magic in the destruction process; once it is introduced
into a country’s border nature, accident and chance will accomplish the
corporate desire. An industrial/ agricultural chemist when presented with
this information quickly identified the real danger, “There would be no
control over cross pollination; cross pollination proliferates the modified
plant gene pool.”

What will happen is that the activated immune gene will become part and
parcel of everyday Australian crop life. And what is the only solution :
the One World Seed Company’s seed or the pesticide from the One World
Pesticide company.

LOCAL OPERATION
=================

Once you can understand that these people are playing for keeps it is
possible to see the dangerous political/criminal web that is now
controlling the destiny of Australian agriculture and your very life.

As our first instance the Australian chicken industry is today reeling
under the devastation of the Newcastle disease; up to December 1996 their
had been no cases of Newcastle disease for over seventy years. It had
however always been the fear of the chicken industry since the government
deregulated control and allowed the importation of Asian chicken under
‘strict' guidelines.

Nevertheless any guidelines are only just that and there is always the
chance of accident fulfilling the corporate desire for change. (Recently a
truck carrying imported pork fell off a bridge; there is now the
possibility of diseased pork being consumed by Australian fauna.) But with
the philosophy of the corporate agricultural cowboy need it be an accident;
and why wait? Thus the following from The Issue (NSW newspaper : Vol 1 No 3
June 1999 : Ph 02-43236709).

“In December 1996 at Brisbane’s International Airport, a women who had just
arrived from Asia was arrested by Federal Police. They had found a vaccine
containing a live virus in her baggage. She was subsequently charged with
two counts of knowingly importing a disease agent. The agent was the
Newcastle disease and the timing of this discovery was curious to say the
least. Because at around the same time, Australian chicken farmers were
becoming increasing vocal, in a desperate attempt to stop the Federal
government from making a decision that would allow the importation of
cooked chicken meat from Asia...[the lady of Asian nationality] arrested at
the airport...was found guilty in Brisbane District Court of knowingly
importing a disease agent and fined $ 8,000. In fact she was an Australian
citizen and claimed that she had gone to Taiwan to obtain the virus so that
she could inject it into her own chickens in Australian so that perhaps
they would-be immunized against Newcastle disease.”.

Now whether the 'believe it or not' story of the Asian lady is true it is
also possible that she was paid by commercial interests, Asian or
multinational, to assist in the devastation of the Australian food
industry. Once Newcastle disease is prevalent in Australian there is no
point in Australian farmers complaining about the importation of Asian
chicken because it has Newcastle disease!

You will note that this philosophy is totally consistent with the corporate
LOGOS. In allowing foreign interests into Australia to compete commercially
we have brought with that “their” corporate methodology.


THE AUSTRALIAN SITUATION
=========================

Today, overseas interests only benefit by the destruction of the Australian
food industry. Today, we can expect globalist forces to be actively trying
to achieve their future view of the world  using the corporate LOGOS.
The prospect of repeated Thailand Chicken Fiascoes is now ever present with
our easy entry Asian philosophy. Soon their is to be a Asian-Australian
Free Trade Area (subject of future NATIONAL WATCHMAN UPDATE).

However the real danger is that the major criminal agency organising the
attack on the Australian farmer is the Australian government. According to
News Weekly (23/9/00), the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service has 89
requests from traders keen to import currently restricted agricultural
products:

* the grape industry is horrified at the prospect of imported California
grapes being allowed into the country because of the threat of Pierces
Disease which is devastating California's vines.

* the banana industry faces the risk of four disastrous currently
quarantined diseases from importing bananas from the Philippines.

* the wheat industry - the great Australian wheat industry! - also faces
the threat of a disease called Karnal Bunt which gives wheat a fishy taste.

All these industries are being subjected to the threat of ‘tainted’
product. And the government, in general, is doing everything to ensure that
the globalist agenda is being met. Recently New Zealand apples have been
approved to come into Australia; they carry the  fireblight disease which
has almost  wiped out the entire New Zealand pear industry has been . US
maize is to be brought into Australia even though it has, at least, 17
diseases, pests and pathogens currently not in Australia. Tasmania is now
breaching international trade treaties and Canberra dictates trying to keep
itself free of imported and tainted salmon.

WHO BENEFITS?
=============

A regular commentator to  the News Report (Email news service, details at
end of article) Antonia Feitz made this totally precise and salient comment,

“In situations like these, it's always useful to look for the vested
interests. Cui bono? Who benefits? Why, none other than the multinational
supermarkets, that's who. They'll screw the fruit growers as hard as
they're currently screwing the dairy farmers. The multinational
supermarkets have forced a price-cutting war between the milk processors
and the only way the latter can recoup their costs is by dropping the price
they'll pay to the farmers.”

WHO BENEFITS - TNW’s  VIEW
=========================

Antonia Feitz's comment is entirely accurate and, in essence, is the point
that this NATIONAL WATCHMAN UPDATE wishes to make. However it must be added
that the real danger is not the aggressive use of commercial tactics but
rather that active, clandestine attempts will be made to destroy the
existing Australian food capacity; it can logically be deduced that this is
already occurring. (Whether by Asian or multinational interests is only
conjecture.)

Finally the important message is the big picture. The Bible predicted in
the "latter days" there would be famine across the world. The real
importance of this message is not that you should believe the bible
(although this is the world’s best information source) but, on a secular
level, we are developing an agro-industrial structure that will make the
biblical predictions are distinct possibility. Structure is everything and
we are developing a structure prone to breakdown.

Presently your future is a world of corporate crops where the specific
gene-pool is owned by the multinational’s. It will be a standardised
gene-pool without natural immunity with no protection from natural
diversity; the only protection will be the wizardry of man. Me, I prefer
the old fashioned method of the wizardry of the Living God. So take heed of
the Watchman’s warning....

“They come from a far country..with weapons...to destroy the whole
land..Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt.
And they shall be afraid : pangs and sorrows shall take hold of us; we
shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth...For thus said the Lord...

11. Life Sciences: Gene scientists disable plants' immune system


Scientists working for Swiss food giant Novartis have developed and
patented a method for 'switching off' the immune systems of plants, to the
outrage of environmentalists and Third World charities who believe the new
technology to be the most dangerous use so far of gene modification.

Patents filed by Novartis, manufacturers of Ovaltine, reveal that its
scientists expect to be able to use the radical biotechnology for almost
every crop on Earth.


Novartis claims that the new use of genetic modification will give farmers
greater control over disease and boost production. But critics insist that
it will make Third World farmers dependent on buying the company's
chemicals each year to produce healthy harvests.

A spokeswoman for Novartis said: 'We are trying to help farmers, not hinder
them. We are looking at ways to improve the way plants fight disease.' She
agreed that the company had discovered a way of genetically modifying crops
so that their immune systems were disabled, but stressed that this was for
'research purposes' only.


The process involves transferring a single DNA molecule, described by the
firm as the 'NIM gene', to the plant. This gene then reacts with the
plant's immune system, allowing it to be switched on selectively by the use
of chemicals when disease threatens. But the patent also describes plants
where the entire immune system has been switched off, making them highly
prone to disease.

Environmentalists fear the new technology could have a disastrous
ecological impact if crops with their immune systems suppressed are allowed
to cross-pollinate with surrounding plant life. The use of GM technology,
which uses chemicals to activate genetic traits, was specifically condemned
by the UN earlier this year. It recommended that the technology should not
be field-tested and called for a moratorium on its development until the
impact had been fully assessed.

The patent documents seen by The Observer suggest that Novartis intends to
use the new GM technology on 'barley, cucumber, tobacco, rice, chilli,
wheat, banana and tomato'.

The company cites an extensive list of more than 80 crops, including
several cereals, dozens of fruit such as apples, pears and strawberries,
vegetables like beans and lentils, and cash crops like cotton and tea.

Alex Wijeratna of Action Aid, a development charity that works with farmers
in developing countries, said: 'We find it extremely frightening that such
a powerful multi-national is working on this type of technology, which
seems aimed at protecting their profits by threatening the rights of poor
farmers.'


Dr Sue Mayer, director of Gene Watch, said: 'These companies should halt
development of these potentially dangerous products until there has been a
proper assessment of whether they are good for agriculture.'

On Wednesday, the shareholders of Novartis and biotechnology giant Astra
Zeneca will vote on whether to merge and create the world's largest GM
company.
