Introductory commentary      
           

It is becoming more evident every day that blacks are waking up to the
fact that govt has a tendency to harm those it claims to assist. It was
liberal govt that put blacks at the top of the welfare role's only to later
rob them of their dignity. The wife of Mass Gov Peapody once went
South with a flotilla of busses in search of poor blacks to be re-located
in Boston. (Mass is now 2% black!) And when they got them settled in
public housing, the govt decided that the welfare check was for the children
and their mother, and stopped sending it with the father as the payee.
This was latter followed up with crackdowns on welfare families with
unreported fathers living in the home.
Theused to be a joke that started like this: I'm from the govt, and I'm here
to help you."  It's no longer a joke.

 America's Dirty Little Secret 
 Atlas shrugs, as White America surrenders in Philadelphia

 There is a dirty little secret underlying Philadelphia's remarkable mayoral 
election. In a city where Democrats outnumber Republicans 4-1, black Democrat 
John Street defeated white Republican Sam Katz by less than 1%. Each 
candidate focused on issues, avoiding the race card. A record 50% of 
registered black voters braved a windy, rainy day and voted. That is all good 
news. But only 36% of white voters turned out, a record low. That is very 
bad. Because that means white voters don't care anymore. 
 
 This is hardly a swipe at black Americans. It's about time they got 
involved. But in a big liberal city like Philadelphia, warning sirens should 
sound when any demographic group gives up. Like it or not, white people make 
more money than anyone. When they leave, jobs and precious tax dollars go 
with them. 
 
 So why have white people surrendered? Because Democrats conducted a 
brilliant thirty-year race war. And they won. That is America's dirty little 
secret.
 
 This is not the "guns and bullets" race war envisioned by those apocalyptic 
back-in-the-hills militia groups. This is a political race war. And Democrats 
have mastered it. Since time began, politicians have motivated voters by 
creating a boogieman. The traditional Democrat boogieman has been class 
warfare. But the Reagan and Gingrich revolutions proved liberal socialism was 
bogus. Where could discredited Democrats scare up more votes?
 
 Actually, Democrats manufactured the perfect opportunity. Their welfare 
state produced an immense black poverty class, primed for racial unrest. 
Democrats discovered they could get black votes by blaming the "White 
America" boogieman for all black problems. Black leaders became drunk with 
this new power, leading Black America into the entangled liberal habits of 
failure. Individual responsibility was drummed out of black culture in favor 
of collective victimization. The downward spiral was immediate and dramatic. 
Within two generations, Black American culture fell off a cliff. Today, 
popular black culture rejects anything associated with White America 
including education, success and civility. 
 
 But as black failure increased, liberal power grew. Race warfare became 
remarkably successful for Democrats. Blacks were once 90% Republican. Now, 
they are 90% Democrats. Today, almost every significant Democratic poltician 
relies heavily upon race warfare. Why not? It works. Black Democrat mayor 
Wilson Goode burned down an entire block of Philadelphia homes during the 
MOVE eviction, killing 11 black people. But he got re-elected with a vast 
black majority. 
 
 Like most cities, Philadelphia offers plenty of reasons to leave. A 5% city 
wage tax, terrible schools, a business-oppressive patronage bureaucracy ... 
the list is long and decidedly Democrat. But above all, race warfare is 
chasing White America away. Northeast Philly property values haven't changed 
in 10 years. The tolerant Mount Airy enclave has been abandoned. Upscale 
Chestnut Hill is experiencing car-jackings, robberies and persistent murders. 
"America's Mayor" Ed Rendell presided over a loss of 10,000 jobs and 100,000 
people during his tenure. Once, Philadelphia had three million residents. 
Today, that number is about half that. One person leaves Philadelphia every 
hour. 
 
 In Atlas Shrugged, Libertarian author Ayn Rand envisioned rich people 
packing up and leaving after relentless class warfare attacks. Actually, race 
warfare has been much more effective, and White America has seen enough. They 
seethe under racial quotas. They hear Louis Farrakhan spew racial hatred with 
only token objection. They saw the Rodney King Riots, then cringe as race 
whores like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson defend the right of black juvenile 
delinquents to riot. They watched a black jury let O. J. get away with it, 
then celebrate. They watch cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal become a street hero. 
Black-on-white crime is now six times as high as white-on-black crime. They 
are witnessing the New Black Culture of Failure creep into their own culture. 
They watch MTV, as Black American gangsta rappers scream, "We hate you. We're 
coming after you. We'll kill you if you don't get out."
 
 So they did.
 
 The race war strategy is now set. Democrats goad Black America into 
attacking White America. White people retreat to the suburbs. Democrats claim 
the newly conquered territory, create failure, and … blame White America. The 
cycle spirals downward, taking the city with it. The more Democrats stoke the 
flames of race-hatred, the faster White America loads up the moving van and 
retreats to suburban enclaves, where their conservative values are 
appreciated. And it's not just white people. Wise, successful black people 
also pack their bags. Cynically, liberals leave cities too, as soon as they 
get married, pregnant or mugged. 
 
 It's sad to see race relations go backwards from the heady days of the 60's, 
where it seemed everyone tried to get along. Make no mistake. Those days are 
long gone. Black and White America have been forced into a steel-cage 
political death match by the Democrats. Now, we watch our cities die with the 
nonchalance of driving by road kill.
 
 Give Democrats credit. They won. Our cities and Black American culture have 
been sacrificed upon the altar of liberalism, by way of race warfare started, 
prosecuted and finished by the Democratic Party.
 
 That is America's dirty little secret.
