                                   AD&D
                             The Realm of Kaos

                                 Religion

The primary pantheon worshipped in Kaos consists of three goddesses.
The largest group to oppose this is the Ikeskin Empire in the Red Sands
Desert which worships Ra and Set, however, the primary pantheon remains
composed of the three Nornes, the fates, of the Norse pantheon. They are
Urd, Verdandi/Beldandi, and Skuld. They normally reside below the third
root of Yggdrasil where they decide the fate of gods and men. Their place
is known as Urd's Well where the gods gather each day to make their divine
judgements. The three Nornes are also charged with keeping in place the
four immortal deer and Nidhug, the snake, that constantly attack
Yggdrasil's roots. Other Nornes also lived there to help them, and not all
the nornes were good. Their home is in the plane of Ysgard.
These Nornes are different than the norns listed in the AD&D Legends
and Lore hardback supplement. Those norns are but lesser goddesses
operating on the power of the true nornes. All true nornes are greater
goddesses as they control the fate of every god, immortal, and mortal in
existance.
The third most popular pantheon/god worshipped is the rest of the Norse
pantheon. Odin and Thor are two such examples that draw many followers.
Loki, however, has a number of worshippers equal to theirs combined. The
demonic Norn, Maimer, also seems to quite popular. Such is religion in
Kaos.

                             God/Goddess Notes
The full explanations of the types of gods are found in the 2nd Edition
AD&D Legends and Lore book, but section will provide some of the
information. Basically, no god can enter the Prime Material Planes which
is why they use avatars, manifestations of some of their power. Greater
gods can use ten avatars at a time while intermediate gods can use five
avatars at a time.
Avatars get a damage bonus from strength but no to-hit bonus. They
don't get the magic bonus to-hit from magical weapons either. All avatars
can speak/understand and read/write any language or form of communication.
They cast spells by will alone, without gestures or words. Otherwise, they
act as a the class or mutliclass that is listed.
The avatars weapon damage is listed in the following setup: 1d8+3
(sword) +9. 1d8 is the weapon damage. +3 is the magical adjustment while
(sword) is the weapon type. +9 is the strength damage bonus.

                                    Urd

                              Greater Goddess

Urd is the Goddess of Destiny and the Past. Her alignment is chaotic
neutral although her followers may be chaotic good, neutral good, or
chaotic neutral. Urd has also lately called herself the Cupid of Love.
Cupid has yet to comment on that. She demands adoration from her male
clerics, and they are duty bound to have romantic interests in only their
Goddess, Urd. This rule can only be broken if it is because they find true
love with another mortal. If this is the case, Urd will give them her
blessing by effectively charming the two lovers to each other. This is
basically a charm person that won't wear off. If the priest violates his
chastity without being in love, Urd might just give the two lovebirds her,
ahem, blessing anyway. If this doesn't happen, the priest must atone for
his crime. Her charm spells are pretty much permanent and require
something such as a Mordenkainen's Disjunction to be dispelled (same chance
as affecting an artifact.)
Female clerics, on the other hand, have no requirement of chastity. In
fact, they are required to not be chaste. Her Priestesses must atone if
they are chaste for a month or more. They must marry by or before the time
they reach middle age.
Urd has been known to travel to the Prime Material plane when bored.
She does this by taking one of her female priests and inhabiting her body.
The priestess thus becomes an avatar, and her appearance is altered to that
of Urd: lightly dark-skinned, long curly white hair, and green eyes. The
body's also alters to age 24, 165-170 cm tall, B90cm, W60cm, and H91cm. She
likes strong drink and hates singing. Also, she loves television, but it
hasn't been invented yet in the realm of Kaos. The avatar has the ability
to use any television set in any plane as a teleport gate. She may travel
to any dimension by appearing through a TV set there without any
assistance, or she may enter any TV on the plane she's currently in by
traveling into the screen of another. On world's where such high-
technology as TV isn't available, she may use magical scrying devices.
The avatar's style is to have as many romantic involvements as
possible, without worrying about the consequences, while trying to fix
everybody elses' relationships that she may encounter. Her escapades
normally involve many powerful charm person spells. Urd is definitely the
"sex kitten" of the three major Nornes, however, she is more concerned with
a relationship working out than in sexual pleasure alone. Urd's avatar is
an 18th level wizard with access to all spells except those of the
necromantic school. She is also a 21st level cleric with access to all
spheres.
A priestess who is used an avatar by Urd will not become pregnant due
to the avatar's actions that might normally conceive a child because the
body is radically altered when it becomes an avatar. Some priestesses want
this to happen, however, and if they do, it will. Such children are +2 on
charisma and -2 on wisdom (unless they become a cleric of Urd in which case
the wisdom is +2 for priest purposes but still -2 in other regards).
Her name has sometimes been said as Uld. She hates when people call
her that because she's still a young 240,000. If a priest calls her this,
the cleric will have to make an atonement.

actually the mind behind her avatar. Anyone struck by her whip must save

goddess's and is a standard charm spell. She doesn't possess access to the
necromantic wizard school. The avatar is always a transformed priestess of
Urd. Urd is one of the few goddesses to create avatars from mortals. Most
simply form them out of their power.

                              Greater Goddess

Beldandi is Goddess of the Present. She follows the Norn Code to the
letter and has a very kind and generous heart, hence her lawful good
alignment. In addition, she is very in touch with nature and dislikes any
kind of violence although she has been known to fire energy bolts at Urd on
a few occasions where Urd meddled in her private affairs. She is the most
powerful of the norns and is, as has been said, very generous. Any lawful
good mortal has a 1% chance of being granted one wish by Beldandi in their
lifetime. If this happens, Beldandi's avatar shall notify the mortal of
this situation and wait for the response. If a decision can't be made, the
goddess will wait for the mortal to make known when the decision has been
made. Attribute wise, she'll raise an attribute to 18 or by one point if
already 18 or above but never above 20.
Beldandi is 210,000 years old. She's 165 cm tall (5'5"). Her
measurements are B83cm, W57cm, and H84cm. She has long golden/light brown
hair and blue eyes. Beldandi is very fond of tea and chocolate. When her
avatar manifests on the Prime Material plane, it is always through a
mirror. By traveling through mirrors, the avatar can travel to any mirror
in that plane or on any other plane. Beldandi creates avatar without
transforming a mortal like Urd.

As Beldandi dislikes violence, the avatar carries no weapon. She has
more than enough magical power to compensate, and her bare hand attack's
total damage is tripled against the undead, baatezu, and tanar'ri. Her
avatars are used mainly to grant wishes to those of pure-heart. Although,
she sometimes comes to aid her clerics in dire need. Beldandi detests the
foul creatures of darkness, so her avatar and clerics are normally provided
with the means of fighting evil but more often they aid the good. Her

                              Greater Goddess

Skuld is Goddess of the Future. She loves mechanical and electronic
inventions and is always building something new. Never satisfied with what
is possible, she constantly attempts the impossible. Often, her results
aren't up to her standards. One thing she excells at, however, is fighting
off the creatures that gnaw away at Yggdrasil. She hates the small bugs
that infest it the most and carries a great four foot long warhammer in her
right hand in order to crush them. It has a telescoping shaft that can
extend up to forty feet to strike a blow.
Her hair is long and black while her eyes are brown. She's 150cm
(4'11") tall. Skuld is only 120,000 years old which is the goddess
equivalent of being a 12 year old human. She looks like a twelve year old
human as well. Skuld's avatar uses water as a gateway into other planes.
She can form a dimensional gate on the surface of any body of water and be
teleported to any other body of water in the same plane or any other. When
she appears, the water parts, and she rises up out of it. She won't get
wet unless there's no ground nearby to leap to. If there is no land, Skuld
can swim, but she'll more likely use a flight spell.
Skuld's personality is such that she dissaproves of Beldandi's wish
granting to the mortals of the Prime Material. That they don't deserve the
amount of affection Beldandi pours out to them is what Skuld thinks.
Because of this, any cleric wanting favors from Skuld will have to prove
himself worthy. She hates incompetence, quitters, and useless machines.
What she does like is ice cream.

Kahm is Goddess of Magic and Swordplay. She hates oppression and
strict laws which is why her alignment is chaotic good. Her special area
of magic is illusion thus she has a fondness for humans and gnomes who may
also be specialized wizards of the illusion school. She also admires
fighter/mages that fight with swords. Kahm's favorite weapon is the sword,
and her avatar is a master of swordplay which is only fitting.
Her avatar looks exactly like the goddess herself. The young beautiful
woman has shoulder-length green hair and a pair of ram-like horns on her
head. Her normal garb isn't much. It appears as an armored bikini with
metal armbands and a neck band. She may occasionally wear a cloak. It

                           Intermediate Goddess

Xhian Pu is Goddess of the Marital Arts, Female Warriors, as well as
cats. Her alignment is lawful neutral, and she expects her clerics to obey
the laws of their native land. If the cleric's native land has no laws (or
laws concerning marriage at least), the goddess has a personal favorite
code that must be followed in preference to all others. It states that for
an honorable marriage to take place, the groom must be able to defeat the
bride in combat. If the groom can't do this, he's not worthy of his bride.
Of course, the bride can choose to lose. There are several other rules as
well. If a man defeats woman, she is lawfully bound to marry him by Xhian
Pu's code. If another man defeats that man, she must marry him if he can
also defeat her. What the man wants is not of importance for the woman
must enforce the law. This goddess is popular with amazon cultures, and
she is also worshipped by werefelines of lawful alignment.
Xhian Pu's home plane is Mechanus on the disc of Jusenkyo. Her two
forms are that of a young beautiful chinese girl and a small domestic
feline. In her humanoid form, she is a raven-haired beauty wearing an
ornate and decorative outfit armored with a chestplate. Her avatar can

Lady Death was a mortal once. She was a Hope, a kind girl with a
generous heart, however, her father was as demonic as humans can. He was
sentenced to die by their town, but he escaped to Acheron. The townspeople
then attempted to burn her at the stake for curing a dying woman of the
plague. She was accused of black magic. Using some of the magic she'd
seen her father use on occasion she teleported herself away.
Unfortunately, it was to Acheron. By some miracle, perhaps she assisted by
some mischiveous god, she slew her father who was attempting to overthrow a
tanar'ri by the name of Lucifer. She then killed Lucifer and took his
realm and power. He cursed her as he died, that she would never be able to
return to her home while the living still inhabited the world. She then
swore in fury that she would overcome his curse. Hope changed her name to
Lady Death. She swore she would see the living die and have their graves
waiting.
Lady Death's clerics follow her in the belief that they will be made
powerful and reap huge rewards from their goddess in return for their
faithful service. In truth, they recieve little except for the ones who
are sent back to the Prime Material in the forms of powerful undead. That
is the only power they may hope for. If her followers succeed in slaying
the living of whatever world they're on, she'll command her undead to wipe
them out, so that she may return to the Prime Material. It doesn't matter
which world it is. She doesn't know what she'll if she returns. It will
be a lifeless world except for her who will surely lose all her powers and
again become mortal upon entering the Prime Material Plane.
Her avatar looks just as she does. Lady Death is a tall, beautiful,
and voluptous woman with light blue skin, eyes that alter from white to
black at will, long curly white hair with bluish tinges, and black and blue
garb. Her garb consists of but a dark blue scanty bikini adorned with
skulls and bones along with a black cloak.
Priestesses of her that are L9 or higher are turned into undead
equivalents (complete with all the original powers) of erinyes (lesser
baatezu), alu-fiends (lesser tanar'ri), or succubi (lesser tanar'ri).
Creatures with summoning powers will summon undead of equivalent HD rather
than what might normally be summoned. A priestess might be turned into
banshees if elven. Priests (L9+) of Lady Death will become undead
equivalents of a cambion (lesser tanar'ri), barghest, shadow fiend, or grim
reaper. Otherwise, a slain priest/priestess may be turned into an undead
of HD equivalent to their experience level when slain.
Although her alignment is neutral evil, her followers must be lawful
evil (or neutral evil) because she wants order not chaos. It won't do a
bit of good if they kill themselves off rather than those living that don't
worship her.

                                  Maimer

                           Intermediate Goddess

Maimer is an evil Norse Fate. This norn delights in mischief and
trouble. She will do whatever she can to foil the fates that the three
major norns have decreed. Besides that, she loves anything mischiveous,
and the clerics she supports gain her favor by causing as much trouble as
possible (not necessarily deadly trouble). Maimer loves anything
considered morally corrupt by whatever society she currently is looking at.
One thing she likes is trying to make Beldani sorry for granting
mortals wishes. Maimer will attempt everything from undoing the granted
wish to corrupting the individual or killing the lucky being outright. She
is known for the dismemberment of those she and her order have killed.
Maimer doesn't support killing without reason. Reason enough is assaulting
one of her followers, foiling one of her plans, or deliberately trying to
harm her follower's religion. Also, Maimer has a hatred for mermaids which
is as yet unexplained.
Maimer is blonde-haired human in appearance goddess. She wears black
leather as armor and for casual dress. It is often addorned with spikes,
studs, or chains. Her forehad has three slash-like sigils on it.

so love heavy metal. Each avatar has access to only one iron golem. If
the golem is destroyed, the avatar must wait 24 days for it be recreated.

                                   Ataru

Ataru is the god of fertility. Most who know of the religion would
call him the god of lecherousness though. He is also known as the thunder
god. He is only responsible for thunder, however, in that thunder is heard
after Lum, Goddess of Lightning/Love/Marriage, zaps him. They are engaged
you see as far as Lum is concerned. Ataru's only comment has been a scream
after recieving a lightning bolt from Lum. Ataru is also known as the god
of ill fortune. His priests are known as magnets for strange occurences,
bad luck, and things that would normally never happen in a sane world. He
has also been known as the god of cockroaches because he and his followers
most often tend to bounce back from whatever ill luck they encounter.
AoC: Fertility/Bad Luck/Lecherousness, AL: Chaotic Good

Duties : May not marry but must have (or try) illicit affairs with as
           many females as possible.
Weapons : Net, Lasso, Mancatcher (babe catcher), Bola, Whip, Warhammer,
           Rapier
Armor : any non-metal
Powers : Call Lightning Bolt: Calls (from above the cleric, not
necessarily the sky) a single bolt doing d6 damage per level hitting
only one target once. This may be done once per day per level, but
there's a 50% chance it will strike the cleric. At level 14, the
spell chain lightning may be used once a day only if call lightning
bolt isn't used that entire day. The Chain lightning will be
centered on the cleric (hitting him first). The command phrase
for the lightning bolt is "Lum no baka" while the mantra for the
chain lightning is "Lum no aho." These are insults against the
lightning goddess to get her to send lightning bolts their way.
The character can block swords with his bare hands if a
successful dex check is made. The god himself (his avatars) need to
employ this power quite a bit and have mastered the technique. Now,
the god bestows the ancient defense technique on his clerics. Doing
this takes the cleric's action for that round although this may be
done multiple times during that round.
Turn Undead (undead will get very mad at the cleric if he fails,
even if they're skeletons or other mindless automations like Dan
"the Man" Quayle). Being mad gives the undead a +2 to strike the
cleric. Only the number that would have turned are affected.
The cleric always take half damage from lightning. He may save
           for none.
Inspire Fear at 5th level: twice per day (as 4th level mage spell),
The character's face darkens, he gives an evil laugh, and thunder
           is heard in the background.
Spheres :
Major: All, Healing, Necromantic, Protection, Charm, Weather
  Minor: Animal

Note: Clerics of Ataru are unable to cast remove curse.
The spell hold person normally available to them can be
used as the spell Grope Person by them. This version always affects 1
person and gives the cleric the sense of touch over the victim's body
      while held by the spell.

                                  Kurama

Kurama is the Wind Goddess. She generally wears black to go with her
dark eyes, black hair, and the pair of crow wings that adorn the sides of
her head. She is also the karasutengu (or tengu) goddess. The tengu are
listed in the Kara-Tur appendix. Crow are the crow goblins of the orient
while the humanoid tengu are slightly more evolved and more benevolent in
temperment.
Kurama's avatar wears a revealing black jumpsuit and carries a green
fan. She hates pointless laws and rules without basis. Laws based on
sentimentality isn't something she likes.

Lum is the Lightning Goddess. She is also the symbol of unreturned

but her long flowing green hair and the pair of yellow horns on her head.
Her eyes are blue, and she dresses in what appears to be two scraps of
tiger-striped cloth that barely cover her.

                           A-KO, Shinobu, Asuka

These three Goddesses of Strength appear as young attractive human
females about seventeen years of age. A-KO has shoulder length red hair
while Shinobu has brown eyes and long dark hair. A-ko's eyes reflect her
hair color so as to appear orange. They're probably brown or green though
no one has yet proven it.
Asuka on the other hand is normally seen in an aerobics outfit or in
armor, often full plate. She has starry eyes and dark hair normally in a
ponytail. She and the other two goddesses appear to be about seventeen
years old. Asuka distrusts all males, and her clerics follow a doctrine
that cause them to act the same way. This doctrine gives no explanation
other than that "Men are scary."
Asuka represents strength that comes naturally as well as sports and
athletics. Competition is also her forte. Shinobu represents strength
that comes from rage and anger, often caused by jealousy but also by
desperation in times of need. A-ko's strength represents unearthly might,
strength of the storm giants, titans, and gods.

                       Kei, Yuri, Deunan, and Leona

These four goddesses represent law, order, and justice. Deunan and
Leona uphold that description fairly well where as Kei and Yuri represent
good intentions that try to emulate that. Kei and Yuri can just as well be
called goddesses of destruction, chaos, and vengeance. They try to do good
but are known for unintentional chaos and destruction: ("There's a large
concentration of evil on that world, so we'd better blow it up. Boom!
What was that? There was a large concentration of good too? Gee, I hope
nobody saw that.")
AL: lawful good, Symbol: Deunan - knight, Leona - small tank (clerics
of low tech worlds wonder what this war wagon is), Kei and Yuri - mushroom
cloud

                                  Clerics

Deunan and Leona: Their clerics act like the clerics of Horus from the
Legends and Lore book. Only their alignment is lawful and good and the
spheres are different.
WP: any, AR: any, SP: Maj: All, Necromantic, Healing; Min: combat,
guardian, protection, sun, Powers: They are paladins who cast spells as if

Kei and Yuri: Their clerics may be the same as the above, but their
alignment must be chaotic good. The goddesses wouldn't like it if their
clerics were better at being lawful good than they were. Their clerics may
also represent their destructive side, so they have other clerical types
available as well. Kei and Yuri are primarily Goddesses of Accidents.
Also, clerics of Kei and/or Yuri may only use the reverse of healing /
necromantic spells to represent the misfortune that the *ahem* Lovely
Angels (as the two goddesses are called) stand for if the cleric is
representing the darker side. Those calling them the Dirty Pair are
certain to recieve retribution from an avatar or faithful cleric. Clerics
of Kei and Yuri gain control undead or turn undead (chosen when character
made) if either power is available. The fear that the Lovely Angels is
powerful enough affect even the dead (even those immune to fear). Those
that worship their good side may use healing and necromantic spells
normally (good-aligned characters). A good-aligned character worshipping
the Goddesses' dark side would be a very depressing person who probably
