From Illusion to Dis-Illusion
A collection of insights while listening to others.

You cannot transcend what you do not know.  To go beyond yourself, you
must know yourself.

To "know thy self" can scare the hell out of you, unless you "come to
me as a child".

Remember, friend, as you pass by, As you are now, so once was I.  As I
am now, so you must be.

Prepare yourself to follow me.

True guides use themselves as bridges over which they invite their
students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully
collapse, encouraging them to create bridges of their own.

He who says does not know; he who knows does not say.  Not because the
wise don't speak, but because it cannot be spoken.

There is no way to peace; Peace is the way.  There is no way to
happiness; Happiness is the way.

There is no way to love; Love is the way.

God comforts the disturbed, and disturbs the comfortable.

The silent room within frees the mind of thought, allowing one to
experience pure awareness, and freedom from emotions.

A guide never strives to explain the unknown, but simply invites you
to stand beside him, and see for yourself.

The key to the gate is hidden in your silence, and allows you to pass
into reality with your treasures, and expand your clarity into your
daily life.

The three selves---the Basic Self, conscious Self, and the Higher
Self---are part of a secret teaching.  The secrets have never been
hidden, really, but few people are interested, and fewer still have
eye's to see.

A ship is safe in harbor, but that is not what ships are for.

The birth of the mind is the death of the senses, so don't blame sexy
on eating an apple.

In forgetting yourself, you become what you do, so your action is
free, spontaneous, without ambition, inhibition, or fear, and we
experience is.

Enlightenment consists not merely in the seeing of luminous shapes and
visions, but in making the darkness visible.  The latter procedure is
more difficult, and therefore, unpopular.

What if you slept, and what if in your sleep you dreamed, and what if
in your dream you went to heaven and there you plucked a strange and
beautiful flower, and what if when you awoke you had the flower in
your hand, and your wrist watch was on backwards........Oh, what then?

Basic Self........Middle Self........High Self........ You can speak
of `my body', because you are not the body.  You can speak of `my
mind', `my selves', `my soul', because you are none of these things.
You manifest as pure Awareness that shines through the human body, yet
itself remains untouched and eternal.  Awareness diffracts through the
prism of the soul to become three forms of light--the three Selves--
each with a different kind of awareness uniquely suited to its
purpose, function, and responsibilities....

The lower, or Basic Self cares for and protects the physical body in
cooperation with the other Selves, providing support and balance.  A
foundation and vehicle for the soul's journey in the world, it
connects the Conscious and Higher Self to the earth like the roots of
a tree....

The Middle Self guides, informs, interprets for, and sometimes
reassures the Basic Self, as a parent would a child, educating it to
best serve this embodiment.  But this parent must cultivate loving
ears to hear that child, respecting that child's individual spirit and
growing awareness.  Parenthood is a sacred training ground....

The Higher Self radiates love, reminding, inspiring, and rekindling
the spark of light within the Middle Self, drawing it up into spirit.
It accepts the process of the Middle Self, and waits, eternally
patient and understanding. Each of the three Selves is here to assist
the others, integrating, forming a whole, greater than the sum of its
parts.

Within the seed of every living thing lie all the laws of nature.  As
the seed evolves, so will we all.  Basic Selves evolving into Middle
Selves, expanding and refining their awareness;  Middle Selves rising
through the heart to become Higher Selves by surrendering to the laws
of Spirit;  and Higher Selves evolving back into the very light of
Spirit.  And each lifts and guides that which is below;  each supports
that which is above.

The ultimate man of peace is but a twinkling reflection of Who has no
name yet many, and Who is the Source of us all.

My ignorance is based on understanding; your understanding is based on
ignorance.  I am a humorous fool;  you are a serious jackass.

A secret's value is not in what you know, but what you do.

Only the extremely wise and the ignorant do not alter.

You are bored with things because they only exist as names.  The dry
concepts of the mind obscure your vision.  You see only memories of
things and are bored.

Man lives in a state of hypnosis created by his own confused mental
processes. A guide will draw you into one of many parallel realities;
for your amusement and instruction.

Surrounded by the illusion of mind, I was a teacher, freed from the
illusion I was only a guide to The Teacher.

You don't see your prison because its bars are invisible.  To escape
the prison of mind can be the most disillusioning experience of your
life. Disillusion is the greatest gift a guide can give.  The word
dis-illusion is literally a freeing from illusion.

Life is not suffering;  it's just that you will suffer it, rather than
enjoy it, until you let go of your mind's attachments and just go for
the ride freely, no matter what happens.

Boredom is fundamental non awareness of life, boredom is awareness
trapped in the mind.

A student said to his Guide, "I owe you a debt that I can never repay.
I understand everything now, and I know what I must do".  And the
Guide answered, "you know nothing yet", as he laughed uproariously.

Time always was, is, and always will be now.  Now is the time, and
time is now, is.

Mind is a phantom, and never exists in the present.  Its only power is
to draw your attention out of the present.

The light of Consciousness is experienced through awareness.  The
meaning of attention is the intentional channeling of awareness
through thought.  A thought becomes one's focus of intention.  The
goal becomes the ability to direct attention, to expand awareness, and
surrender to Consciousness.  That is the first lesson if man is to
know and grow.

Enlightenment is not an attainment, it is a realization.  Everything
changes, and nothing changes.  If a blind man realizes he can see, has
the world changed ?

Without a foe a soldier never knows his strength , and thought must be
developed by the exercise of strength.

The path to knowing is a humble and lonesome journey with no end.

A guide is helpful when seeking a truth, but there is only one
Teacher.

In knowing others we know ourselves, in knowing ourselves we know
others.

A true student uses thought to quite the mind, and with skill and deep
understanding cuts the mind to ribbons;  slashing through thoughts to
reveal their lack of substance.  A guide teaches the action of
inaction, to control every action, and expand it properly into daily
life.

Consciousness is not in the body, rather , the body is in
consciousness.  And you are that consciousness, not the elusive mind.
You are the body and everything else too.

A student seeks the gate within.  It is well hidden from the seeker,
and when found many knock, but few enter.

Death is not sad, as most people don't ever really live at all.

Life is not about perfection or victory, its about love.  Your goal is
not invulnerability, but vulnerability to the world, to life, and
therefore to the experience of the presence filling you in oneness.

Beneath all our apparent differences  we all share the same human
needs and fears; were all on the same path together, guiding one
another.  And that understanding can give us compassion.

The secret of happiness is not found in seeking more, but in
developing the capacity to enjoy less.

Truth is a knowing, without words or thought.

Reaction is an action of the illusionary mind of words and thought.

Embody what you teach, and teach only what you have embodied.
