ATOMIC WARS IN INDIA

The Mahabharata and the Ramayana, two hindu sacred books, speak of
invaders who seem to have come from beyone the earth, since they are
called 'sons of the moon and the sun.'

With astonishing precision, the Hindu books describe an atomic war of
 the kind we dread today.

These revelations, and those that can be found in other Sanskrit texts
(Ramacharitra, Mahavria, Drona Parva, Rasernava), made little
impression on anyone before 1940. But scientists now realize that
the atomic war fought in ancient Asia was exactly like the one that
threatens our own civilization, so far as we can imagine it.

The Vedic writings are three thousand years old. Do they represent
reports by honest but uninitiated witnesses? It seems more likely that
they refer to an atomic war that took place ten to twenty thousand
years earlier, a war between two unequal cultures. The losers used
elephants, houses and wooden chariots; the victors-probably
extraterrestrials, since they are described as 'gods' who came from the
sky-used atomic bombs, radiation and flying machines.

In the Ramayana and the Drona Parva we read that the flying machines,
called _vimanas_, had a spherical shape. Their motive force was a
strong propulsive wind produced by mercury. They enabled the men inside
them to cover great distances in a marvelously short time.

The _vimanas_ were under the complete control of thier pilots. They
could move up or down, forward or backward, according to the direction
in which their motors were turned.

Here again we have an interesting coincidence. The _vimanas_ were
propelled by murcury; in 1959, at the international space convention
held in Paris, the engineer L. Gerardin advocated the use of
 mercury-ion engines for spacecraft.

As for the atomic war, we read that the fire of the weapon used by the
hero Rama destroyed whold cities, producing a light brighter than a
hundred thousands suns. A high wind then arose, and the fire of the
terrible weapon burned elephhants, soldiers, chariots and horses. Yet
no one saw that fire: it was invisible. It made men's hair fall out,
bleached the feathers of birds, colored their feet red and turned them
into to tortoises. To escape the effects of the invisible fire, the
soldiers leapt into rivers to wash themselves and all objects that they
 would have to touch.

We can allow for a certain amount of imagination, but it is still
clear that if a man living three hundred thousand years ago were
speaking of events that happened in the remote past-but were
undoubtedly reported by written records, since no inconsistencies have
been detected in the accounts that have come down to us-these are the
terms and images he would use if what he was actually describing was
the explosion of atomic bombs that destroyed cities, burned everything
and caused mutations and radiation sickness, one of whose symptoms is
loss of hair. Is it reasonable to call this a coincidence?

In the Mahavira, Rama uses weapons very similar to modern secret
 chemical weapons:

"The Sage gave him weapons of the greatest power and explained all the
secrets of their use to him. One of them produced a deep drowsiness,
another a deep sleep, and there was a fire weapon capable of reducing
the great army of Kumbhakarana to ashes."

Thus the Sanskrit texts tell of a war in which technology as advanced
 as our own was used.

Another example: an aerial chariot carried several people to the
ancient capitol of Ayodhya. The sky was strewn with black flying
machines that emitted a yellowish glow.

These repeated descriptions of flying machines and atomic weapons
cannot leave a twentieth-cnetury reader indifferent. According to their
viewpoint, different people will see them as pure fantasy, a
prefiguration, a clue, or undeniable proof of the existence of an
 advanced protohistoric civilization.

In the Mahavira, Rama states that the nature of his weapons does not
 belong to our cycle:

"These weapons that are launched and withdrawn by a magic secret can be
wielded only by tradition. Having performed penances for the
advancement of the sacred science for more than a thousand years, the
ancient sages, Brahama and the others, saw by revelation these weapons
and their glory, the fruit of their austerties.

"Krisasva gave secret knowledge gave secret knowledge of the complete
science of the mantras (formulas having a mysterious power, necessary
for the use of the divine weapons and the instantaneous suspensions of
their effects) to Visvamitra, who gave it to me."

And so we are brought back to the Conspiracy of Secrecy and a
civilization of Superior Ancestors who had all the knowledge contained
in our experimental science, and perhaps supranormal powers as well.
Rama may be referring to such powers when he speaks of 'asuterities.'

Before the birht of Chirst, the Yogasutra listed the feats that man was
 potentially capable of accomplishing:

-Making the body larger or smaller at will.
 -Levitation and lightening the body
-Reaching all things. (For example, touching the moon.)
-Making the will irresistible. (For example, diving into the earth as
  though it were water.)
-Mastering the production, dissappearance and transformation of things.
-Entering into another person's mind or body.
 -Invisibility.

This thaumaturgy seems alien to earthly genius. It may belong to the
scientific eveloution of an extraterrestrial people who came to live
 amoung us.
