Subject: ACCOUNTABILITY FOR WACO

I believe that the discussion on Waco does center on the "issues at
hand". The federal government of the United States has ordained itself
to be the central force in the life of every U.S. Citizen. Waco is a
perfect example. I understand that child abuse is your concern, but I
see no reason why we should ordain the force and might of the federal
goverment of these 50 states to decide the fate of every child abuser.
We have 50 state law enforcement agencies which are fully capable of
controlling sex and child abuse offenders.

In my opinion, we do not need, nor want to pay the Attorney General,
the Preseident the head of the FBI and all their minions to seek out
and apprehend these social devients. That's not their job. Nor do we
want them to think that they have the right to invade the private
lives of every American family looking for violations. The prosepect
of this Government subscribing to the United Nations Convention on the
rights of the Child and all the national and international athority it
presents is opposite to the very basis of our form of goverment.

Our Constitutional Republic is based on local control with limited
power given to our representatives in federal government. Checks and
balances such as these hearings represent, was intended to prevent
tyranny. The Clinton administration does not have, nor can it give
away, much of the power it is currently exercising, unless we stay
silent and allow them to have it.

The Waco hearing brings Congress around to the point that yes,
mistakes in judgement were made by government. The FBI/BATF are not
all perfect. More important they are not suffering from shortcomings
in their ability to deal with law enforcement. David Koresch did not
get away. However, it is apparent, that they have difficulty with the
command and control of the power they now possess.

Hense, Congress is beginning to understand that perhaps this is not
the time to heap upon them more power and authority. Hopefully they
will begin to understand that it may not be a good idea to pass the
Clinton administration's anti-terrorist legislation which gives these
very agencies the power to override the protections of the
Constitution.

The government, and more specifically, this administration, thru Waco,
Whitewater, CIA/Mena, and a host of ongoing special investigations,
not to mention issues like the NAFTA buyoff, the emergency lame duck
GATT vote, the Congressional endrun Mexican Bailout, etc, etc, has
proven itself to be anything but deserving of more authority with less
accountabiity.

What David Koresch did, pales when compared to the unconsitutional
deception and fraud being perpetrated on 250 million American Men
Women and Children by this administration while the loyal opposition
leaders have dutifully looked the other way.

Congress and the Administration where content not to hold these
hearings. It has been the outrage of we the active people that has
brought about these events in Washington. And now that the door has
been opened and questions are being asked, we must continue to
pressure our representatives to hold government accountable for its
actions. The Bill of Rights is ink on paper unless we demand that
government respect and act according to the meaning of these words.

If the Waco/Whitwater hearings do nothing more than raise the issue of
making government's actions accountable to the people, then I think we
will have taken a major step in the direction of restoring government
under the Constitution. That, I believe, will ultimetly provide the
opportuity for a better life for all of us.
