Hi Roger & everyone.  A couple of items of interest re: the Rabin
murder.

As you can imagine there is a flood of commentary here in the NY area,
most decorous and generally very sympathetic. But some is justifying
the murder itself, including (I believe) a Meyer Kahane-associated
Rabbi interviewed by WCBS radio who effectively said the shooting was
justified.  This was very jarring to me and most listeners, I expect.
The complete lapse of solidarity was almost as shocking as the "he
deserved it" sentiments.

Hard news has been largely buried by all the commentary but some items
are VERY interesting indeed...

1)  Likud Party leader and former UN ambassador Binyamin Netanyahu was
    given a 1/4 Op Ed page in Saturday's NY Times for a very hard-line
    exhortation to crush terrorists worldwide.  Coincidence?  I don't
    pretend to know what it could mean, i.e., whether the end-game is
    pro-Likud or anti-Likud.

2)  President Clinton and his protector David Rockefeller have lost a
    key asset in Rabbin.  Clinton was visibly shaken, as was
    Rockefeller's valet Henry Kissinger, when interviewed in Hong
    Kong.  They were not expecting this...

3)  Clinton immediately invited senior Democrat & Republican members
    of Congress to accompany him on his plane to the funeral.  He
    quickly broadened this invitation to include former CIA Director
    George Bush and ex-Warren Commission member Gerald Ford, as well
    as Carter.  E.g:  These people are to fly on the same airplane as
    Clinton and physically accompay him on Israeli itinerary.
    Insurance?  (Victor Ostrovsky has written that Mossad actually
    made plans to eliminate Bush at a press conference in Spain during
    his presidency.)

4)  The assassin is a law student making lone-nut noises, i.e., God
    made him do it.  So's the press.  No news about psychiatric
    history, treatment, medications, hypnosis, or Kompany Kult
    associations.  Authorities have reported two different ages for
    the assassin:  first he was 23, now he's 27.

5)  The "hate-speech" drumbeat is emerging in commentary.  Expect it
    to blowback and be directed at independent journalists and critics
    of the OKC/Waco slaughters and criminal politics in the
    Clinton/Bush admins.

5)  Israeli security personnel guarding Rabbin seem to have left a
    large opening for the assault when Rabbin reached his car.

All for what it's worth.  I'm troubled for the potential for trouble
on Clinton's trip to the funeral.  Based on the president's hoped-for
travelling companions, I think he might be too.

If Mr. Bush pleads illness and is a no-show, I'll be worried.
