Today I went to reregister my driver's license. Quite the
experience in California now. I am required to 1)submit my SSN,
for direct association with my CDL for purposes of debt recovery,
tax recovery, child support recovery, law enforcement ID, and
other reasons not specified except by US code; 2)get my picture
taken, not by photograph but by electronic scan; 3)submit my
thumb print, by electronic scan. All of this information is to be
placed in the state's computers, and my "driver's license" is to
have that little magnetic strip like credit cards have; a single
swipe of the card will instantly access my driving record, my
address, my car, my credit history, my tax history, my job
history, everything. Since the card will act in just the same
manner as a credit card, how much longer before it is used as
such? How much longer until employers no longer pay in cash, or
even in check, but instead pay by crediting your account,
accessed only by that card? Hey, it would only make sense; no
more paperwork, no more time standing in line at banks, no more
robbery, no more lost money............no more tax evasion, no
more tax auditing, no more underground economy, no more drugs
bought on the street with cash, no more babysitters watching your
kids for you without paying any taxes, no more tipping the
waitress without her reporting the income, etc etc etc. Just
imagine the power for government! If you want to raise taxes,
hey, just change a variable in a computer program and watch the
money roll in. You don't want an individual to drive, hey, just
flag his file and when he goes to buy gas the message comes back
"TRANSACTION DENIED. FOR INQUIRY, CONTACT THE CDL BUREAU IN
PERSON, 1200 NEWARK ST, SACRAMENTO,  1000 TO 1100". Want to
ban a gun, hey, just flag that scan tron number for denial. Want
to restrict an activity, hey, just change a variable in a program
and a 100% tax is instantly applied to the item. Want to "save"
beach front property for environmental purposes, hey, just flag a
variable in a program and instantly no-one owning beach front
property can sell or buy it, or purchase any materials to build
on it. Just think of the power of government to control in detail
the economic activity of an entire state, right down to the
individual. The government says jump, and instantly the entire
system jumps. Where is the individual in all this? Well, he can
apply for relief; he can fill out the proper forms, submit them
at the proper times to the proper authorities who will, when they
find the time, review his case and decide if it has any merit
(that is, any advantage for them). And hey, why should they
change? They sit on the programs, and nobody can do anything
about it. Complete control.

If you read the prophecy in the book of Revelations of the Bible
about how the beast causes everyone to take the number of the
beast, or else they can buy or sell absolutely nothing, it should
be apparent that this is patently impossible throughout human
history, even up to now. But now we see the beginnings of a
system where this is not only possible, but likely, and fully in
view.

i've been thinking along similar lines, as have several other
people i've met. You can take the scenario one step further -
problems created by lost cards, unauthorised use of someone
else's card, etc. could be eliminated by introducing barcodes
tatooed (in invisible ink?) on each individuals forehead (the
mark of the beast).  Then they'd just "scan" you, like a box of
Corn Flakes...Even the 666 makes sense, apparently -> the barcode
configuration for "6" already appears at the beginning, middle,
and end of each code, as a sort of placemarker. Scary stuff
indeed.  i've also heard it suggested that the 666 may refer to
2/3 = .666, some sort of foreshadowing of powerful trinary
computers which'll eventually govern every aspect of our lives
(that seems a bit more contrived to me).
