    HOW TO BUILD YOUR AURA:

    There are numerous exercises with which to build a strong aura and
    to maintain it. Since the size of the aura is determined by physical
    vitality, it goes without saying that all sensible rules of good
    health should be observed, such as eating nutritious food, getting
    adequate rest, etc. The less obvious way is through breathing
    exercises. These must be slowly and carefully used unless the person
    attempting them has been trained in the art of proper breathing. As
    a novice in rhythmic breathing exercises, I found the best way for
    me to do it without danger or discomfort was to stand by an open
    door or winndow, or out in the open air, inhale through the mouth to
    a slow count of eight, hold the lungs expanded for the same count,
    and exhale throught the nostrils as the same rate of count.
    Immediately inhale again, and so on. Gradually increase the count a
    few numbers a day as you do the exercise for several minutes at a
    time several times a day. When you reach the point of doing the
    exercise  without too much conscious concentration on the rhythm and
    can comfortably use the count  of about 15, then begin the
    visualizing part of the process.
    Picture a cylinder of light about nine feet high and about five feet
    in diameter, with yourself suspended in the middle. See the light as
    clear and bright, a white light with rays of pastels playing through
    it. Draw into this cylinder all of the spiritual protection you wish
    by thinking of it as permeated with the God consciousness. If you
    wish, you may also fill it with the sound of beautiful music, since
    music has gret vibration-building force.


  PROTECTION THROUGH THE AURA

  As you master the visualization part of the exercise, extend the
  diameter of the light surrounding you. This is undoubtedly what Paul
  refers to as the 'whole armor of God' in Ephesians 6:11-17. The
  description included in these passages fits the protection which is
  obtained from possessing a strong aura, and the all-encompassing parts
  mentioned as being important.
  Materialists may deny the effectiness of protecting oneself in this
  manner, but the results of building will be visible to all with the
  ability so see and the protective qualities will be demonstrated in
  often unexpected ways. Some esoteric schools refer to the aura as 'the
  ring-pass-not.'
  Not long ago there appeared in a national magazine an article which
  contained in it a reference to the effectivness of this visualized
  circle of light in its projected form. It gave credit to this means of
  protection a small female dog whose owner had given her a circle of
  light by mentally projecting it. A friend of mine attributed the fact
  that his children did not contract any childhood diseases, even in
  epidemics, to the circle of light with which he kept each of them
  surrounded. A resident of a nearby town walked on live coals and held
  white hot iron in his hand without discomfort or harm, fully believing
  that his auric armor would protect him, and it obviously did.
  According th Helena Blavatsky in her book _Isis Unveiled_, there were
  reported to be holy men India who would allow guns to be fired at
  them, secure in the belief that their auras were sufficiently strong
  to deflect the bullets.

    HOW AURAS AFFECT OTHER PEOPLE

   How does tha aura effect other people? Every first impression we give
   or receive is the result of the condition of our auras. What we are
   sending forth into the very air around us are vibrations, the nature
   of which we determine ourselves. If they are compatible with the type
   of vibration emanated from the person or persons with whom we are
   in contact, all with react favorable and a comfortable meeting
   results. If they are not of a similar frequency, disharmony follows.
   The difference in the rate or kind of frequency determines the degree
   of compatibility or dissension. Here is a manifestion of the truth of
   a statement that like attracts like.

   When we are experiencing any of the stress emotions and reacting to
   them by allowing negative vibrations to emanate from us, we upset the
   aura of everyone with whom we come in contact, even in the most
   casual way. Unless the person so contacted has a very strongly
   positive aura, we upset or disturb his vibrations, resulting in a
   depletion of his physical, mental or emotional being.


   HOW WEAK AURAS DRAW ON STRONG AURAS

   A weak aura will draw on a strong aura. I once attended a lecture by
   the well-known Eileen Garrett. During the question and answer period
   which followed her address, a question was asked about auras. Before
   answering the query, Mrs. Garrett said that she had been observing
   two women sitting in the front area of the auditorium. Mrs. Garrett
   said that she could see that one of the women had a headache and
   healing was being transmittted or drawn from the other woman's aura
   into that of the headache sufferer. This 'transfusion' was taking
   place without the knowledge of either woman! It is so whenever we are
   in the proximity of anyone; we either give or we draw. This is why we
   are morally responsibile to understand this particular area of our
   relationship to others; we must keep our own auras strong so that we
   do not allow such weakness to develop in our own that we become a
   drain on others'.

    HOW HEALTH DEPENDS ON AURAS

    Paracelsus in his writings and theories accepted the aura as a
    reality. He believed that the emanations of man's body were
    impervious to disintegration but not derangement. Ill health was
    simply disharmony in the aura, and by reharmonizing the vibrations
    by contact with a very health body, and with a transfer of the
    elements present in a healthy person's aura, a state of good health
    could be restored to anyone who was ill.

    This is why spiritual healers work in and around the aura of the
    people who come to them for treatment. They are trying to effect a
    transfusion. Some healers work by thought transference, attempting
    to influence the aura with mentally projected vibrations which will
    be absorbed by the consciousness of the patient. Others work by
    laying on the hands, this direct contact with the body flooding the
    entire being with a healing force.

    Some healers who work with the laying on of hands assert that this
    was the secret of the healing power of Jesus, HIs auric emanations
    being so strong and so highly spiritual that they produced complete
    and immediate healings. In Chapter 8 of St. Luke, when He spoke of
    feeling that the 'virtue' had gone out of Him when the woman touched
    the hem of His garment, does it not seem possible that He felt the
    drain of energy from His aura? Because the touch caught Him unaware,
    the energy loss was noticeable-He had not been prepared for the
    drain and so had not effected simultaneous replacement.

    HEALTH DIAGNOSIS BY AURA

    Spiritual healers who diagnose illness do so frequently by the aura.
    Depressions in the outline, discoloration or breaks reveal much to
    them. I have seen evidences such as great gaps in the auras of
    cancer victims and, at the other end of the scale, small
    indentations indictive of slight discomfort.

    There is some disagreement about the meaning of the colors
    associated with the study of auras-whether the facet with which one
    is dealing is healing, character analysis or emotional states.
    Generally speaking, in healing the healer concentrates on violet and
    its various shades for soothing, bright green for vigor, orange and
    yellow for upliftment in the nervous system.  Use red for
    stimulation and deep blue for soothing the organic system and the
    blood. Blue is soothing and cooling, red is enriching and warming to
    the blood. In concluding the mental projection of color into the
    aura of a patient the healer generally concentrates on dazzling
    white, this being inspirational for both persons and restores the
    energy of the healer.

    In reading character from the aura the following seems to be the
    consensus of evidence of the significance of the various colors:

    BLACK:  is rarely seen, indicates deep malice and hatred, the
            ultimate negative. The greying of any color seen in the aura
            is a negative condition manifesting. The same is true with
            brown tinges. The degree of negativity is determined by the
            degree of the darkness.

    RED  :  if deep, indicates a sensual nature; if tinged with black or
            brown it indicates anger; crimson indicates love and
            loyalty; pink shows optimism and cheerfulness.

    BLUE :  if deep and strong indicates a very religious nature;
            lighter blue represents a person with high ideals; medium
            blue shows great mental powers; pale blue shows great
            imagination and an alert and active mind. Blue is always an
            indication taht the individual is more mental than physical,
            greyed off is the person is melancholy.

    GREEN:  indicates versatility or ingenuity in its clear deep shades;
            cunning or avarice if muddy; in its lighter bright tints it
            indicates it indicated healing power. Green is also the
            color of growth, sympathy and charity in its lighter shades,
            usually intreperted as indicating a compassionate nature.
            Grey-green shows jealousy, morbidity and envy, which
            explains why we use the expression 'green with envy.'

   YELLOW:  is a color which there is much disagreement; some contend
            that it is strictly a color of in intellect, while others
            maintain that it has to do with the emotional nature. All
            agree that it is a highly desireable color, since it is
            highly spiritual. It is one of the high octave colors and,
            in the golden shades, expresses great spiritual attainment,
            whether through mental processes or s sympathetic
            understanding of others. Negative, or greyed, yellow is the
            color of fear or cowardice.

   ORANGE:  shows a balance of the mental and physical, usually
            indicative of sociability and extroversion, with a love for
            people in general.

   VIOLET:  a blend of red and blue, is a very high color and only shows
            in highly evolved people because it comes only to those who
            are deeply spiritual with a great love for all humanity.
            Sometimes one may see lavander or violet flashes in the aura
            of someone at prayer or in meditation. It is rarely seen as
            the pre-domimating color in auras in a materialistic workday
            world.

   WHITE :  transcends all other colors and, when one develops the
            ability to really see colors in auras, is seldom seen. Only
            very rarely is one privileged to be in the presence of such
            a person. There is most often a mother-of-pearl effect
            present, which is very subtle, but which renders the silvery
            effect-this, too is a _very_ high octave, difficult to
            attain.


   ESOTERIC IMPLICATIONS OF AURAS

   Some of the higher esoteric schools maintain that a person who is
   highly evolved should not seal his aura, since this limits the
   ability to expand his consciousness out into the Cosmos. They feel
   that man is infinite in his consciousness and is finite when his aura
   enclosed him in a sealed shell. Of course, anyone so highly evolved
   as to be infinite in his consciousness should not need too much
   protection from influences which would affect a more mundane soul.

   Among American Indians the aura is recognized as a very real thing of
   inestimable value. Some tribes assert that every new-born baby is, in
   the first instant of life, marked with a cross of light showing on
   its forehead, indicative of its spiritual source and purity. This
   indication of freedom from sin, with the touch of God inherent in
   everyone from birth, makes the Indians cognizant of their
   responsibility and the privilege of parenthood.

   The aura, too, is present from the moment of birth, and Indians
   recognize one particular area of the aura as clearly significant of
   family ties. According to those able to read the aura, it is an
   unfailingly accurate identification of the parents, and is more
   strongly like one of the parents than the other. Inadvertent
   'baby-switching' is thus unknown among Indians. (It has been claimed
   that in some states where the Indian population is high, Indians are
   sometimes called upon to settle possible mix-ups in some of our
   'civilized' hospitals.) The aura acquires predominantly personal
   expression at about the fifth year, as the personality and
   understanding of the child begins to alter the family influence.

   Among many tribes marriage prospects are 'aurically inspected' before
   permission to marry is granted. What a wonderful way to predetermins
   a couple's chance for happiness: if the aura colors are not
   indicative of harmony, the pair must try to make the necessary
   changes. If the dull red of sensuality is predominant this is
   considered a foreboding of impermanence.

   Indians also recognize the aura as invaluable in the diagnosing of
   illness and the treatment needed. It is their belief that everyone is
   born with the ability to see auras, but only those who make a study
   of them are able to use the ability authoritatively.

   The fact that auras appear on photographs gives one pause in
   considering the fear some primitive people exhibit when cameras are
   aimed in their direction. In some inexplicable manner they have
   concluded that a camera will capture a part of their spirit or
   life-force.( How have they  determined this? When one tries to decide
   how this belief could have spread in societies where cameras are not
   a part of every household's equipment, it is hard to understand.
   Perhaps it is word of mouth reports from natives who have seen
   photographs and have seen the aura captured thereon.)

   Auras _do_ appear on photographs, and there are psychics who can do
   readings from photographs brought to them or mailed to them. It is
   asserted by the people who have this ability that the aura in the
   picture changes coincidentally with the subject's aura in the picture
   changes coincidentally with the subject's aura as long as the subject
   lives. A picture, for example, which was taken three years ago, does
   not show just what was in the aura at the time the shutter was
   shapped-it shows what the subject is at the time the reading is done.
   If the person in the photograph is no longer alive, no aura shows at
   all!
