                       ARE YOU A CLAIRSENTIENT?

There has been plenty of information written about how to meditate.
Should you sit in the Lotus position? What should you think about
(where should you 'go') while meditating?

Instead, I want to talk about the three different ways we can perceive
information while in this alpha state.

Which one are you - clairvoyant, clairaudient, or clairsentient?

    1. Clairvoyant -- A person is clairvoyant if he sees objects
clearly when asked to imagine something with his eyes closed.
If you ask him to conjure up a comfortable chair, a
clairvoyant would see the color and style of the chair. He may
want to go into detail and might even describe what else was
in the room. Most creative visualizations are geared toward
people who can produce pictures in their minds.

    2. Clairaudient -- A person is clairaudient if he hears sounds.
When asked to imagine a comfortable chair, the clairaudient
might hear the sounds of a rocking chair or the music of a
lullaby -- even hear a voice.

    3. Clairsentient -- A person is clairsentient when he perceives
by feeling or knowing about an object. When asked to imagine a
comfortable chair, the clairsentient feels comfortable without
seeing an image of the chair.

I belong to the clairsentient perceivers. When I first participated in
creative visualizations, I thought I couldn't do as well as others --
I wasn't seeing things to be able to describe them. It is difficult
for a clairsentient to describe his perceptions -- he doesn't usually
see or hear things that can confirm his feelings.

Now, so that I might be able to share my perceptions with
clairvoyants, I fill in a picture of my "feelings" (like an artist
would do). If I perceived (felt) a comfortable chair, I would make it
look like an overstuffed chair, upholstered in rose-colored velour.
This usually becomes an enlightening exercise for me because I begin
to ask myself questions like, "Why didn't I make it a bright red
chair?"

It is important to know which group you fit into -- not only when you
participate in a creative visualization, but when you lead others in
one. Use words like "see", "hear", and "feel" when you are guiding a
group and everyone can participate fully.

Stop now and think about your own special fantasy place ... when you
recalled it, which way did you perceive it? Which one are you --
clairvoyant, clairaudient, or clairsentient? As an enlightening
exercise, try to experience one of the other two methods the next time
you meditate.
