PREFACE:
  This is no new article. It is the updated and enlarged version of one I
  published in February 1993. I'm talking about my personal experiences in
  combination with examples found in literature. Some things reported here
  are just speculations.



INSTRUCTION: (The model I will use to describe and "explain" the phenomenons)

The human consists of:

  1) Physical Body

  2) Etherbody (which moves the physical body and has the same shape)
     This seems to be equal to the concept of the morphogenetic fields
     of Mr. Sheldrake (biologist) and the bioplasma of some Russian
     scientists.

  3) Astralbody (has the shape you think of but also a basic shape)

  4) Mentalbodies (contain the consciousness)


ETHERPROJECTIONS: The ether- astral- and mentalbodies "leave" the physical
  body. This happens every night to load the etherbody with new non-
  physical energy (like a battery). - This is the only concept I know
  which tries to explain this fact. Let's call it "battery-model". - This
  also happens sometimes during a dream. The first part tells you how such
  dreams look like.

  There's a link between the physical and the etheric body (the silver
  cord). - Some say it is a myth but I don't think so.


ASTRALPROJECTIONS: The astral- and mentalbodies are set "free". This also
  happens every night but with reduced consciousness - This is called
  dreaming. Your astralbody travels through a world build up with astral-
  matter consisting of:

  "DREAMWORLD" (don't know a better word): Everything is created by your
  subconsciousness. Everything changes here, nothing is stable, like the
  subconsciousness. - If you get the full consciousness (you know you are
  "in" a dream) this experience is called "Lucid Dreaming".

  "ASTRALWORLD" Many mystics talked about these worlds. All the deceased
  "live" anywhere in these worlds according to their development. These
  worlds are more stable; changes take time here and need the permission
  of the "designer" of a special world. Dreams in these worlds are the
  theme of part two (only theories which may be helpful).

  "HUMANE-CREATED WORLDS" There are also worlds which are created by the
  thoughts of many people (wilfully or not) (1).

  Very often the "world" you experience is a mixture of this three types.



****** PART ONE - DREAMS AND ETHER PROJECTIONS *************************

I) Dreamtypes:

     Already Muldoon wrote (1929,(2)) about dreams of:

1. Flying                       6. Moving by lift
2. Floating                     7. "flutter"-dreams
3. Falling                         (periodic movings or
4. Being beated an the head         rotations of the
5. Seving to a fantasy thing        dreambody).

     which are caused by the movings of the etherbody.

     Robert Monroe mentioned (3) that there were examinations which seem
     to prove that

8. "Going by car"
     belong to this category. (QUESTION: Does anyone of you know more about
     this note?)

9. Dreams with uncontrolled movings of the dreambody/vehicle
     (The will of the dreamer has no influence on this) (5)

10. "Influence-dreams": Dreams in which the dreamer influences the moving of
   something just by thinking it should happen. And then the thing moves as
   you thought. And you aren't in a lucid dream. I think this happens if the
   etherbody is released and free to go wherever you wanted it to go.

       For example (Experience 1): "When the Flower flew" (1992-04-23, 4:55)

    I , my father, and my sister, .... are near the corner of the farm-house
    in which we all live. We are standing near of the flower-bed and talking
    about  ... .
      ..........
    Suddenly  I saw something in the air - a withered flower with lump of
    earth on the roots. It was a very great lump. We didn't hardly believe
    our eyes. I had to show that flying thing to everyone exactly before
    he/she found it. We put up with what's happening in front of our eyes.
    The flower goes up higher and higher and I couldn't keep my being
    astonished to myself. - That's impossible! And then I thought to myself,
    (flower) come down, without any kind of purpose.

      Behold! The flower came down faster than it was floating upward. The
    flower landed in distance of about 1 to 2 metres. We all became curious
    and ran to this place and wanted to see this peace of earth. It has
    imperceptibly inserted itself in the beet again. I was the first standing
    in front of this place and became aware of the possible dangers. I
    thought of UFO's and their dangerous radiation. So I said: "Nobody
    touches this because it may be dangerous." - If I had an Geiger-
    Mueller-Counter I would know more. .........

    After awaking my hand was somehow stiff but after some minutes it
    was gone.

11. Dreams with invisible resistances:

        "The powerful head" (1993-08-08, 7:00) (Experience 2)

     I see an old Indian death-mask. It is grey and has red eyes and a red
     mouth. - And that are all details.

     And there's a strange tree. Sensitive people say something about the
     great positive energy the tree radiates. And so I make an experiment
     or is it someone else?

     I take an old little skull owning magical powers (It was great as my
     fist) and put it on a wood-bar. There's a young little appletree with
     a small stem. When I try to approach the tree I'm held back by an
     invisible power. I try this again and again and I'm always pushed back.
     Once I use all my energy and hardly reach the stem of the tree but I
     lose my power ... and that's it.

     I belief this category of dreams happens when you have troubles
     getting away from your physical body.

12. "Birth-dream":
    You feel a body (etheric body) leaving your body. (You bear your
    etheric body). No comment necessary! (15)
    I think also "head-births" are possible.
    Principal version: You press yourself through a very small crack. You
    also leave your body but you "see" how difficult this is.

13. BUT also other dreams may occur while an etherprojection

     For example (Experience 3):

               As I was a child I often dreamed of trying to switch on
     the light. But I had no success and then I always got frightened -
     "the devil had done this and will catch me. Then I awaked sweating
     and full of fears.

     In September 1992 I dreamed this again (the last time) and became so
     angry that my consciousness awaked. It was dark for a short time. Then
     I looked outside through the window from a position different to that I
     had lying in bed. My "body" (etherbody) was vibrating and prickling.
     Then I heard ear-splitting noise and voices. But it was quiet as I had
     returned to the physical body. I felt the vibrations and the prickling
     much more intensively. Then they faded away.

Final Note:

  As you see, movements in dreams (events in the Astral-world) during ether-
projections can always be interpreted as movements of your etherbody. - So
these dreams should cover Out-Of-Body-Experiences, so that we can "explain"
all our feelings and other experiences to ourselves.

  Maybe these symbols tell us something about our relations to our physical
body and our self.

How could you "determine" an etherprojection while dreaming?
(sometimes while sleeping, too)

I) Dream-Interrupting:

   a) A (lucid) dream which fades and you find yourself out-of-body:
      (Remember the dream I told you.) You have the same dream or dream-
      pattern very often. One time your consciousness awakes and you'll
      find yourself out of the physical body (in the etherbody), in most
      cases near it. Muldoon wrote down other examples (2).

   b) "Dream Guiding": This method was invented by Muldoon (9).
      You use a dream that induces an etherprojection (classical: moving
      upward in a lift) to get out. When you are out you get aware of being
      out-of-body. - You use a suggestion prior to sleep to do this.

   c) You are in a lucid dream and go out-of-body.
      You do something that induces an etherprojection in your dream and
      will awake in your etherbody near your physical body.


II) Hypnagogic Dreams (Dreams you have before falling asleep in the
    evening):

   a) Flash-lights and other light-phenomena:

   "Blinded" (Experience 4) (1992-12-18, evening)

   I awakened because I had been blinded by the light of the headlight
   of a car I thought of. (This dreams happens in many variations:
   flashlight, light-points, .... ).

   Maybe this phenomenon (the light-effect) is just an effect
   accompanying the leaving of your physical body.

   b) Maybe you hear noises while awaking equal to that OOB-people are
   reporting. For example (10) or (11). - This is one of the possible
   experiences while leaving the body.

   For example (Experience 5):

   One day I was awaked by a noise while "falling" asleep. I asked my
   brother if he had heard anything. - He didn't and I couldn't explain
   it to myself.

   c) "Stepping into holes" (Wince when awaking):
    Someone wrote (I think Brennan) that this is an indicator that
    you've left your body and have returned.

    "Slipped" (Experience 6) (1993-04-01, evening)

    I slipped on a parquet floor. I winced and waked up. I wanted to go
    to an book shelf on the wall through this room.

   d) "'bull's eye'"

      (Experience 7) (1992-06-01, 23:00)

   I was thinking about the gas-thermometer (I was working with that
   staff in a practical studies in afternoon) and what would happen if
   something comes out of this instrument.

   My friend and I are making an experiment. Suddenly he aim at me
   with a tube (Short time after I was thinking about "something
   coming out of the instrument"). A pink liquid comes out of the
   tube. It flies through the air very slowly (like in slow motion)
   and it had the shape of a spot. Then this spot hit me at my face. I
   startled up.

   You are hit by something like a shapeless mass. This is just what
   you experience in your etheric body when reentering the physical
   body quickly. This experience is modified somehow.

   e) Experiences similar to very short OOBE's:

   "In the Space" (Experience 8) (1993-08-10, 6:30)

    I'm floating in the space above the blue atmosphere of the earth.
    I see white clouds in long stripes. I've the feeling of being in
    the atmosphere and there's something above me.

   The whole sky was blue and full of small stripe-shaped clouds. At
   the surface of my field of vision I could see the darkness of space.


III) (My method) You awake after a dream. Then try to move your hand
   or better try to write down your dreamexperiences on a paper you
   prepared. If it is difficult to do this (and hearts a little)
   the previous dream has happened while an etherprojection. (This is
   just my personal experience I want to share with you).

   Unfortunately you can't use this method for hypnagogical dreams
   (dreams seeping the sleep). - Now I have doubts if this is true.


IV) When I was a child I had a dream:

   "Nipping in the Anus" (Experience 9)

   I was standing in the bathroom washing my face. Suddenly I felt ...
   - It was like someone was nipping me in my anus. One, two, three
   times - Till I startled up from my dream and I got awake. I was
   sitting in my bed and had I very unpleasant feeling in the anus. -
   It took time till the feelings faded.

   This happened to me later, too - about three or four times. It was
   always an unpleasant experience which happened while I was sleeping
   or falling into sleep.

   I couldn't understand what had happened to me.

     What could have happened?

   There's the "Root-Chakra" located near the anus which I believe is
   the cause for my experiences. Let me explain:  What would happen if
   only the "Root-Chakra" is activated? (Don't know how). What would
   it feel like? I think not just sexual sensations but also tingles,
   .... .

     I believe this is the explanation for my experience.

   What's the connection between OOBE's and this experience?

      Mr. Waetli writes about Patrica Garfield's birth-dream: "I feel
   a body coming out of my (physical) body" (13). Later he writes:
   "The activation of the Root-Chakra could be the reason why the
   astralbody of Mrs. Garfield privileged uses this way of detaching."
   (14)



V) (Suggestion for research) This is just an idea a friend of mine
   had. Put a bed on a scale and somebody sleep in this bed. Then
   watch the quick decreases/increases of the weight during the night.
   (The etherbody's weight is about 70 gram - determined by Dr Duncan
   Mc Dougall by watching the decrease of the weight in the moment of
   death (7)).


CONSEQUENCES:

1) Maybe this paragraphs help you to understand some of the events
   happening during sleep (Experience 1 - 10). (4)

2) There's a communication between the etherbody an the astralbody
   (dreambody). (See list of symbols.) But we don't know why and how
   this happens. - Like physical events (noises, ...) events in the
   astralworld influence the dreams.

3) BUT the events in the dream can also have influences on the movings
   of the etherbody. This is used to have an etherprojection by the
   method of "dream-guiding" (Muldoon described this in detail (5)) or
   by using a lucid dream to get out.

4) Maybe the dream-symbols appearing while etherprojections tell as
   something about our believes and belief-systems and our attitude to
   OOBE's (fears, ...).

     In the evening as I say my self in the mirror I got an idea: The
     death-mask was my face. The position of the eyes and the mouth
     were equal.

**** PART TWO - DREAMING ON THE "ASTRALPLANE" ***********************

Mystics and many other people reported unbelievable dreams. - Masters
of the opposite world showed and explained them the mysteries of the
hole creation.

No, I won't talk about these adventures and "prove" their truth or
untruth.

My question is:

  Is it possible to have dreams happening on the astralplane?

My answer is yes but they are rare.

Remark: I think it's generally also possible that dreams happen in the
        physical universe as astralprojections can happen here.

HOW COULD YOU DETERMINE THIS?

I. WATCHING THE "DREAORLD":

1) A spirit told a German technician: "Try to change something you see
   -a tree or another object - with your awakened will! Can you do
   this - so you are dreaming (a lucid dream). - But can't you do this
   with all efforts of will so you are on a real non-physical plane.
   ... Astralplanes are real creations of a non-physical creator and
   you can change them only with permission of the "designer" of this
   area. ...." (1)

2) The next method is described in Charlos Castaneda's book "Journey
   to Ixtlan":

Fix an object in your dream (with your eyes, use your hands) - in the
dreamworld it often changes then. If not, your consciousness maybe
will be awakened; in that case you've an lucid dream -> use number 1.


II. SPEAK WITH THE "DREAEOPLE"

3) You meet a deceased person and he/she tells you personal things
   unknown by you. After awaking you prove the truth of these claims.

4) Maybe it's helpful to tell other people in the dream that you are
   in a dream. In the worst case there's no answer.

   For example: "My Sister and Me" (Experience 1)

   I meet my sister in the dream and tell her that we are in a dream.
   She looks at me very surprised and I think she doesn't believe me.

METHOD:
   But how can you do this while dreaming (with decreased
   consciousness)?

   The magic word is "DREAONTROL" (2) - You suggest yourself to try
   to change an object in your dream or anything else before sleeping.


CONSEQUENCES:

1) Explanation for some dream-experiences
   a) Meeting deceased person and speaking with them.
   b) Teachings for the life by a master.
   c) Visions of the hell, ... . (Attention! Maybe all you see may be
      created by your subconsciousness)

2) Communication with dead people. (Attention! Edgar Cayce warns of
   working too much with "astral-contacts" (3)).

3) Learn about the creation and all the complicated things during a
   dream guided by a higher developed entity.

4) You can watch the places where you will go after your physical
   life.


SHORT NOTE:
  Light and Inner Body Experiences don't belong to this category; that
happens on higher levels where you are just an "consciousness-point".
Or you see your higher self as an pattern of light.
