What you are describing is certainly the use of the imaginary power
used by each of us, which is one of the Astral senses, and
originates in the Astral (or emotional) Body, but it's not what I
was referring to as out-of-body travel. (Astral Projection, Astral
Travel or Soul Travel.)

Out-of-body travel, is a real, as going to the supermarket; much
more so in fact. When one becomes aware of being out-of-the-body,
the first impression is how much more real it is. Colors are
brighter, sounds sweeter, emotions 'clearer', more light (assuming
you are above the Hells of teh lower Astral); it is here we see that
Human life is really only a dream, but until we learn to travel in
spirit, Human life is accepted as the only complete reality in and
of itself; the spirit (or Soul) being some sort of unmeasurable,
indefinable, unreal quantity.

When out-of-the-body, all the senses are much more awakened, and we
can perceive events of which we have no other way to perceive, such
as travelling away from the surface of the Earth, through the Earth
or through time, etc. and bring these memories back exactly as if we
had uded the Human Body to visit these places. (With certain
differences.)

There are many "Mystery Schools" sprinkled throughout this planet,
which teach awareness and occult sciences, the one I follow is
Eckankar. There are many others. ECK has an inexpensive book called
"ECKANKAR, Key To Secret Worlds", by Paul Twitchell, which describe
several easy methods a person can use to learn Soul Travel.

Another facet are the new "type" of schools appearing in recent
years, designed to teach the aspirant how to leave the body. One
that comes to mind is Robert Monroe's (of "Journeys Out Of The Body"
fame.) His discovery of "Hemi-Sync" has taught several hundred on
how to leave the body.

You might find something of interest in their catalog. Another book
of interest is "How I Learned To Soul Travel", but I forgot who
wrote it. I can also get the address and tele of Monroe institute if
you're interested.

Another method, was mentioned in a book "Closer To The Light"
written by Melvin Morse, M.D. On page 118, he says that Wilder
Penfield, a neurosurgeon, used an electric probe on a man's brain in
an area called the Sylvian Fissure of the right temporal lobe just
over the right ear. Patients say they experience half in - half
out-of-body states, as well as seeing God, beautiful music, dead
relatives, and a panoramic life view. Several reported being
"thrust" out-of-the-body, as it occured. (Good reading about near
death experiences incidentally.)

Soul travel differs from Astral projection by the movement of pure
Soul itself, whereas Astral projection actually separates the Astral
body from the Human body and used it as a vehicle to explore.

The Astral body after separation looks exactly like your Human body,
except it is sparkling as if made of millions of tiny stars, and it
maintains its connection the Human body through a "silver cord".
(This is what gives life and vitality to the Human body, without it,
the Human body is just water and minerals, and dead.) This cord
connects to your back in several locations, at each shoulder, at the
back of the head, and several running down the spine. Each
connection is to each of the charka's in the Human Body. As these
various filaments come together, they began to twist themselves
around themselves into a large, say 2 inch across, bundle. This then
runs to the Astral body. Separation of this cord is the real cause
of death to the Human body. Astral travel is limited to the Astral
Plane (the Physical Universe is within the lower Astral World).

The Soul body is a vortex of spinning light, spirals of pure white
light, and will form any shape thought of. It is not restricted to
the Earth, lower and mid-Astral planes, and can travel anywhere in
any of the lower worlds; up to what is called the Fifth Grand
Division, up to the top of the Worlds of duality. It is what we
really are, pure spirit, a viewpoint of intelligence. Soul Travel
gives much more freedom.

It's really not that easy to relearn to move out of the body, but it
can be learned and does require that we give it some practice. It is
easiest if we find a teacher, an inner and outer teacher, to guide
us. AS I said, I follow Eckankar, which teaches Soul Travel. While
the real teaching of Eckankar is to learn to accept and give Divine
Love, the lessons of Soul Travel are very easy to try, safe and
quite enlightening.

Early in this life we travelled out-of-body without giving it a
second thought. It was both natural and necessary as the Human Body
was felt to be so very confining, difficult to control and the outer
world was cold, dark, noisy and horrible in all sorts of ways; as
well as BORING. All we could do was roll over; eat, relieve
ourselves and cry from pain. So we returned back to the inner worlds
were we had just come from where things were far more pleasant.

And then we grew up, we began to crawl, then explore on our own and
we began to get more worldly. As the outer world drew our interest,
we began to loose interest in the inner ones. This disappears
completely around the age of five, with the beginning of school, the
real destroyer of spirit. Now, as adults, we tend to remember none
of our early moments. Do you remember your birth or the moments soon
after? Very few do. How about anything in the first few weeks? We
were just as aware then as we are now; except we didn't have much
interest in this life yet.

So to relearn to travel out-of-the-body, we must establish that
state of having little or no interest in the outer world. We must be
as a young child, looking through a window, wishing to pass through
and willing to wait forever if necessary to go "there". This is what
Jesus was talking about when he said "we must become as a child";
and the window is the Tisra Til or Third Eye.

The Christians call it "grace", but it's really only love in the
truest sense. Only through Divine Love, we can overcome the lower
desires of lust, greed, anger, vanity and attachment. As we rise
above these lower "devils" we will discover ourselves as spirit, and
out-of-body travel becomes possible. This is what I meant when I
talked of 'grace' and the difficulty in learning out-of-body travel.

Well this got completely out-of-hand, as you can see, so I'll get
back to work and try to get some business done.
